Chase Bank Questions Doctor's Credentials During Deposit

Geez, what were these bank tellers thinking to act like that? Ridiculous! In todays day, or whatever day, they should have been respectful and happy to have the deposit as well as her new account!
Well stated, Ruthanne, I totally agree!👍

I think the tellers were very disturbed that a black person could become a doctor & make a deposit that big. That's how racist minds work.

Some tellers are not the sharpest tool in the shed. My late wife had a problem depositing a check and the teller wrote a note with little circles above the "i" telling her to bring her marriage license in. She called the manager, and the manager asked her to send in the note and she would talk to the teller.
P,S. we are both white

You would think they would have had other black female doctors making deposits before. The bank tellers sound worse than childish! Beyond ridiculous!
That would require the ability to form a logical thought. No racist is able to do that.

I'm White, so I've never been discriminated against, because of my race. But, let's face it. If you're Black and you have a lot of money, it's because you're a drug dealer. If you're Black and poor, it's because you're a druggie. All Blacks are criminals. If there's a robbery or hold up, two Black guys did it. A Black guy is a druggie, dealer, or alcoholic wife beater. All Blacks live on welfare, and don't work. Black girls have kids, by their 14th birthday.
I don't think most Whites are cross burning racists, but if you believe all of the above is true................

Yep, racism still going strong in USA, some places more than others. It is a bad business move to allow it.

When the 2nd bank employee declared the check fraudulent the customer should have asked to speak to manager, then asked that individual to call the maker of the check to verify because it is such a large sum if the mgr not convinced by her verifying info. Then apologies should have been required of the individuals in question immediately.

What's more that large a check likely would be cashier's check, meaning all the bank would need to do is check her ID. The money is basically on hold at maker's bank. And they could have confirmed without causing her any embarrassment by citing policy for such large sums.

When i worked in a large multi state bank in Laramie orientation of new employees, and reminders at staff meetings about treating all customers with respect and not making snap judgements on anything about their appearance were strongly worded and frequent.

Being a University town we had both students and professors from around the world. Plus not all wealthy 3rd generation ranchers dress like the ones you see on TV shows-- many of them still dress in jeans (we had one worth millions who wore coveralls) because they still do some of the work &/or they just are used to dressing that way.

While I'm very glad the doctor is making a case of it, and it is shockingly racist, I really don't understand what being a doctor and having credentials to prove it has to do with depositing a not-really-that-big of check. I don't commonly have 16,000 dollars to deposit, but gee you don't have to be a doctor to have that much money. I feel like the article writer thinks they need to prove to the reader that the person had that much money legitimately, which kind of implies all the readers are going to be racists too.
