Have celebrities lost their minds?

"Celebrities", the sort who appear once in a reality tv show and then are forever referred to in the media as "celebs". How on earth do they afford to live in a big house, drive an expensive car and seemingly do very little in the way of work? Surely reality tv doesn't pay that much!

you'd be surprised how much it pays...and also once they've appeared in these reality shows, they're now on every social media platform possible with millions of followers which rakes money in hand over fist.. then comes the endorsements, it's ridiculous!!

The British media will publish photos of someone in a car park, doing their shopping or walking down a street and the only claim to fame the person will have is some minor tv role, often long ago but, I guess that brings them freebies, Instagram and Only Fans subscribers. I am not thinking of anyone in particular, there seem to be a growing list of them!

That's fact !!... I get sick of some unknown actor who had a 5 second walk on part on a Soap being contiually referred to as a Star.. but the more media coverage they get the more the money roles in...

Similarly, the hospital selfies usually accompanied by the headline "Brave star in hospital drama"! Usually they seem to have suffered some minor misadventure that most of us wouldn't even think of going to hospital for but, I guess it's a few more coppers in the bank!

Its reported that Aaron Rogers (Football player) makes 9 million a year on them!!
When young people start in professional sports, they are surprised to learn that they make more money from endorsements than playing their sport.

You know when celebrities talk, many people are influenced. However, the fact remains that these so called "stars" don't do ads for free. Most are paid hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars. Guess the advertisers think that it is money well spent. Good thing I don't have cable. I don't even watch the "free" movies on Roku due to all the advertising. I suppose the advertisers are wasting their money when it comes to guys like me but I am not the "run-of-the-mill" Mr. or Mrs. public.

it was never about the money or the giving to charity...it was about his image the self respect....here is a man who has a reputation as a great singer to be seen sitting on a child's toy rocket stating he is broke....surely for the same money he could have made a much better commercial using his voice...that is all it was about...I still say some celebrities are losing their sense of worth....

Yes..the guy claims he is broke while making a fool of himself..this guy is a great singer…why be remembered this way?
Maybe Elton hoped to accomplish 1 of 2 things; peak the younger generation's interest enough to go check out his music, or made sure he'd at least be remembered as the guy who did a commercial with Lil Nas. A legacy either way.

When someone makes that kind of money, they have a choice of paying tons of it in income taxes or showing investments. Donations to charities are tax deductible.
Many celebrities seem to have created charities. Are these tax deductible for themselves?

Unfortunately "reality " TV does pay that well...... And encourages people to do more and more outrageous things to draw attention to them.

Read a few articles about former reality TV folks divorce and most quit whatever profession they were in cause they were getting so much from TV. They try so hard even if their current job ends to stay on the TV payroll.... some had decent jobs but staging drama moments paid better but they never see it the fifteen minutes are up.

Too many celebrities IMO would do ads for everything and often do foreign ads to bulk up their bank accounts .... seldom do they even care about the item they are pushing.

the many foundations set up by celebrities and even professional athletes have become a tax dodge.
They often pay big salaries to family or friends and overhead far exceeds any charity causes they may support
