I used to say the same thing until my vegan son told me about how they take the new calf away from the mother and she and the calf cry for days. I don't think either one of us could do it, rgp. :cry:

This reminds me of a similar thing we had happen, last Fall. One of the neighbors, about 1/2 mile away, raises Goats. One day, I saw one down in our meadow, and was able to coax it up to my workshop....where I attached a rope to it, and had the wife call the neighbor. While waiting, I tried to keep it calm, but those rascals are really strong....luckily, it just butted me fairly gently, a few times.

Yeah, that sucks [no pun intended] I guess they don't want the calf to suckle mom ?

The mom & the calf, crying for days .... would get too me, so I suppose you're right.
