Yes, literally thousands upon thousands of dollars are spent. Some pretty expensive gifts, including diamond jewelry. Pounds and pounds of chocolate candy. Stuffed/Plush toys. Valentine's Day cards. Breakfast-lunch-dinner out. Oh, can't forget FLOWERS! Actually, I think, other than Mother's Day, Valentine's Day is the most popular day for giving flowers.......red roses, pink roses and more red and pink roses!
Wife and I have decided not to buy each other a Valentine's Day card. Just send a free online one to each other. Gifts/Plush toys, not this year. Will get the Stuffed/Plush toys out that I gave her in previous years and line up on a shelf in the living room. Some are really cute, like her Tweety Bird who talks and her Valentine's Day Dog who sings and moves it's ears.
So, what will we do for the day...........EAT!! Breakfast: Eggs Benedict w/a Bloody Mary. And, then there will be dinner.
I know what some of you think of Valentine's Day.......HUMBUG, right? Well, all I can say is, "to each their own".
If you are going to celebrate the day, how? Giving that "Loved One" a special gift, flowers, card, yummy chocolates? OR, buying something for yourself, like I did when I was single/divorced and not seeing anyone?
Yep, money, money, money and spending, spending, spending. That's what today's younger society loves to do.
