I vividly remember A Towering Inferno.
Jaws
The first Rocky Movie
Karate Kid.
Deer Hunter
Blade Runner
Animal House
...to name a few

In the 50s Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movies were popular. I liked movies starring Charlton Heston and many horror films. I do remember standing in a line that snaked around the theater for two blocks to see Darby O' Gill and the Little People.

  • Billy Jack
  • The Sting
  • The Way We Were
  • The Four Musketeers
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I watched several, but my favorite was "Jaws." I took a date to see it & I liked the way she was so scared she really held on to me all through it.
And after the movie, as well.
Later, she asked me, "Why do you always take me to scary movies?"

To this day I will not go into water I can not see the bottom.
Never know what is lurking down there.

You guys are just babies!

Splendor in the Grass. I wanted to be exactly like Natalie Wood.

Otherwise, I didn't pay much attention to the movies. Just went there to "make out" haha!
I remember I disliked "The Three Musketeers", disliked Engleburt Humpernick,
Loved Elvis until he started making movies. Didn't like Hollywood pushing people on us
that they thought would make them money: Fabian, Bobby Vee, Annette, Connie Francis,
Bobby Darin, Sandra Dee, Frankie Avalon, etc.
I thought James Dean was depressing! Thought the movies were corny!
But I was young and stupid.

Desk Set was one of my favorites. I watched a lot of older movies like that on TV; my favorites were the ones featuring a happy single gal (played a lot by Katherine Hepburn) who lived in a great little apartment in a big city, had a fun job and tons of friends; I used to hope to live like that some day.

Easy Rider
Fantastic Planet
Fritz the Cat
Heavy Traffic
Wild Bunch
Play Misty for Me
Wizard of Oz
Planet of the Apes
Star Wars
Stepford Wives
Fantasia
Exorcist
They Come Back
Lost Boys
Karate Kid
My Body Guard
Clockwork Orange
One Flew over Cuckoos Nest
The Shining
Bob Ted Carol & Alice
Alice's Restaurant

I can remember watching 2001: A Space Odyssey, which I found visually impressive but both boring and incomprehensible. Goldfinger with the incomparable Sean Connery as James Bond was a hot ticket, and I still revisit the film today, and have my toy Aston Martin that now sells for well over $100 on eBay…
