More like 9 gallons per mile.Speaking about big vehicles, are Hummers still on the road? I heard they get around 9 miles per gallon.

Easier to rollover too! Those big, fridge-shaped SUV's really make me chuckle - especially when they're loaded up with 3 bags of groceries.
That box shape & higher center of gravity do a number on MPG.
yup, exactly. I remember when I started seeing them. We had been designed gas-efficient vehicles...and then....Those big, fridge-shaped SUV's really make me chuckle - especially when they're loaded up with 3 bags of groceries.

They sure are. Seems like they’re needed so the owner can accelerate quickly and drive fast. There was a time when they became socially unacceptable, maybe that’ll return.Speaking about big vehicles, are Hummers still on the road? I heard they get around 9 miles per gallon.
No hit! Cha-Ching would be more like it! They were already up so it's going to be even higher with havoc in Europe. Are the profits of the big gas companies taking a hit? Last I read, the profits are up again.
Sorry, but if Biden's name is specifically mentioned in a negative context it is political.well, that is a little unfair. Any discussion of gas prices is economics and that is always going to be connected to politics, the Mid-East, etc. etc. etc.
I think by excluding politics, the idea is that people are not preaching their version of politics...whether it is liberal, conservative or centrist.
I think the idea is to exclude those kind of fights.
But not to exclude the entirety of any mention of politics.
The entire reason gas prices are rising now is completely because of what is going on in Ukraine.
Oh, you are correct. I am sorry. I did not see the post that you are referencing. Yes, you are entirely correct, I apologize.Sorry, but if Biden's name is specifically mentioned in a negative context it is political.![]()
That's the kind of attitude that solves nothing while creating further division. It's not practical for everyone to shell out $40.G on an EV when they are struggling to begin with. If you are not, fine, but there are plenty who are. So on behalf of all who cannot afford an EV, current outrageous gas prices, and cannot afford to just stay home, I feel for you and do not consider you selfish at all in this situation. It's yet another "personal choice" being forced upon us until it hurts.Compared to what the population of Ukraine are going through and all the suffering, so we have to pay a little more for Petrol (Gas)big deal, stop all your whining and just get on with it, and be thankful that`s all we have to worry about...seriously!
What is it called if mentioned in positive context???? I mean IF...Sorry, but if Biden's name is specifically mentioned in a negative context it is political.![]()
We have to have a truck, and need 4WD from time to time.Honestly, I don’t feel sorry for my stepson. He had to have a big truck because that’s what all the guys he works with do. Got a fancier one later. A couple of years prior to that job, he sold his truck and said he’d never have another. He’s lucky that he makes really good money.
Our diesel pickup gets 10 mpg when hauling our 32' 5th wheel. We've got no trips scheduled that are more than 150 miles away.Think what it costs to fill up a big 35 ft motor home / Winnebago...and what kind of mileage do they get, like 6 - 8 miles per gal.?
I agree with you. The difference is that here in the UK we've never had cheap fuel..well not cheap like the USA for example, but it's never stopped those certain people buying HUGE vehicles , which not only costs more to fuel but more to insure and tax annually... if they can afford it , fine.. but most of these are what you in the US would call soccer moms, and these vehicles are predominately used just for the school run, and shopping... , and the bane of it all is that our roads are very narrow, so it causes masses of congestion and parking problems to have these huge vehicles on the roads..Call me mean, call me cruel, even call me insensitive, even call me anything but I really can't feel sorry for those folks that used the "copy-cat" or the "Me Too" approach to buying a big vehicle they don't need. As far as I'm concerned the only folks that can justify a large 4X4 truck are farmers, ranchers and folks working on construction. The rest of you who use these monster vehicles just to buy groceries or go to the health club or communicate 100 miles/day to work; you gotta start changing your way of thinking. The honeymoon for cheap fuel is over. The honeymoon for buying all those toys to put on the back of your vehicle to impress all the other guys with monster trucks and toys on the back is over. Sure, the rich will always survive but will you?
Not really, I can literally go weeks without leaving the house. If I were still commuting to a job, that would be a different story...would simply quit that job, and be money ahead. Are gas prices “driving you crazy?”
I don't drive much so no problem there. My problem this summer will be getting gas & diesel for my mowers. I have 8+acres to mow. My gas mower has two 6 gallon tanks on it. If I use that mower I use 1tank & half of the other.
My diesel mower has one 6 gallon tank & I can mow everything & still have a 1/8 tank. Course diesel here today was $4.95
Gasolene is $ 4.32 a gallon.
Might have to go buy more goats again.
Lets not forgot those big boats. If we're going to start judging what people are driving let's also judge those who fly for business or vacations, or people who live in areas with extreme temperatures, but use energy to keep their homes a comfortable 68°-72° year round. Or those who use snowblowers instead of shoveling. Or use power mowers and tractors instead of old fashioned push mowers. Or turn lights on during daylight hours. Or. Or. Or.
Each of us could improve the level of energy we use. Prices will be going up for everyone.
Beware the slippery slope of accusation, my friends. When I point a finger at you there are four more pointing back at me.
Wow! I have to drive to the gym or the park to exercise 6 and sometimes 7 days a week. Even during COVID-19, I had to get out of the house or I would have gone stark crazy and would have packed on unnecessary weight. Not really, I can literally go weeks without leaving the house.
