I'll be gone for a while

I had a "Memory" pop up this morning on Facebook, and it was 10 years ago today that we got back from a "Western" Caribbean cruise. There were 4 of us - my (second) wife and I, and her brother and his wife in the adjoining cabin. Had a great time. Sadly, I'm the only surviving member of the group.

I'm leaving tomorrow for South Florida, then boarding a ship on Sunday for 7 days in the Caribbean. I plan on enjoying the dining and entertainment in the evening and not having internet access. There may be some who question why I felt the need to post this, but I have seen the "Missing Members" thread and I don't want anyone to put an APB out on me.:ROFLMAO: I'm fine and will be back on March 21st, my good friends. I know there will be lots of new, interesting threads to go through when I return!
Just seeing this, thanks for the heads up, I was missing you. :) I hope you're having a great time, also looking forward to a few pics when you return.

Thank you, everyone! I returned on Monday and I'm still getting over the jet lag between flying to the East Coast and then setting the clock ahead 1 hour. I've turned from a "night owl" into an "early bird".

Getting to Miami was a disaster. My direct flight was canceled on the day of departure and American Airlines could only accommodate me the next day with a connection in Atlanta. I didn't realize it was Spring Break so all flights were full and there was a line 5 people deep waiting for luggage when I finally got to Miami airport. It took me almost an hour to get my luggage. I ultimately arrived at my hotel at 11:30 Saturday night and the cruise left on Sunday afternoon. I had to have a negative Covid test to board the ship so I took that Sunday morning. Once I got to the ship the stress melted away.:)

I know "pics or it didn't happen" but I really didn't take any because I traveled by myself, this was just "me time" and the ports weren't anything special. The only pic I took was from Grand Turk. I was on Holland America and there was a Carnival ship docked right beside us. Almost looks like one ship with two funnels. I was walking along the beach when I took this.

I really didn't care about the ports. I went for the warm weather and for Holland America's great evening entertainment and dining. During the day I read a book or did puzzles on my iPhone. I also walked around the Promenade Deck (which goes all the way around the ship) regularly. I only watched CNBC for 5 minutes in the morning while getting ready. It was so much less stressful than being glued to the news at home. The only internet access I had was on my phone so I was pretty detached.

Here are few clips from Youtube to illustrate the entertainment. These were the singers and dancers on my cruise. The two singers from BB King's Blues Club were Vanessa Ferguson and Sean Sounds, finalists in The Voice from 2017 and 2021, respectively. They were fantastic!

I had such a great time, but it is always good to be back home! I missed you guys!

Sounds like a great time, welcome back!
