Nor do I, but I can contact those services myself. I keep a list. Also, I have a brother 2 states north who has those contacts here. I just call him. I am 74, and on oxygen, and self reliant.
 

Both. We live in a wooded area by a lake that is in a suburb of Dallas. Our neighborhood has become gentrified and we have a big selection of restaurants. We are also 20 minutes from various theaters and even American Airlines Arena for concerts. I personally couldn't live in a big city but I am happy to live close to one.

Checked want ads in newspaper, had to go downtown Damn! nothing but filled sidewalks,-people and tall buildings,scary!
The office I sought was on 30 something floor, lobby was empty (10 A.M.)
Pushed button, elevator arrived, no operator :mad:
(I had been to physician as a kid in San Antonie, his building had elevators-with operators!)
Entered elevator, three banks of flashing lights and No Operator!
No other passengers, just me, entered elevator, then jumped out as doors begin to close.:eek:
Waited in lobby for other passengers, none... left.

It is true: Once out and safe, walked to middle of street, craned my neck to see how tall this bld was?
I guess you would call me country!
 
Prefer the city. I’ve lived in big city, country and now a town that officially is designated as a city. When we retired from an even smaller town/city, we chose this moderate sized place. Now with issues with transportation and limited numbers of specialists, it’s a shame we didn’t chose the larger centre. Sometimes we grumble about how busy the traffic is downtown; there might be ten vehicles in the whole block. Our perspective is different. This is very much a retirement community, as is the whole valley.

Definitely a country boy.

Born and bred in the market town where I still live, population is now 33 000, about 10 000 more than it was when I was at school

I actually live on the outskirts of the town, always have and I much prefer it, never been much interested in night life or the party scene.

I'm 35 miles from London and 10 miles from Luton if I feel the need for something more exciting, although I'm a bit long in the tooth for that nowadays! .

Gaer, I did no such thing..if anyone inferred he was a date you did initially by saying he took her out 7 times...and I made a quip about her sending 'people' to ask him out. .. and then explained that usually if someone is ask out on behalf of someone else once it's a bed date..otherwise if it's a few times it's an escort date.. I at no time made any remark about Movie stars or Federal Marshalls ( whatever the heck that is ).. being better or worse than anyone else... but in your initial post you didn't even mention that he was an officer of the law..and at no time did I demean your late husband.. I was making fun of Olivia newton John acting like Royalty...
You're clearly over-thinking this, and now accusing me of some ridiculous thing you've invented in your mind. I can do without over sensitive people .. and having to walk on tip-toes before I speak to a 'friend'.. so do me a favour Gaer.. don't speak to me because I'll have you on ignore.. I grew up in the NJ suburbs, but was just about half an hour away from NYC where I went for museums and shows fairly often. I was plunged into a rural environment for college, and cows were such a novelty that I actually walked around and photographed them during my freshman year! I acclimated fairly quickly, however, and came to prefer small town and semi-rural areas for the quiet, space, lower crime, and saner driving… 🐄
