How observant are you.... in course of the day

Amazon is also talking about sticking a label on their packages saying "This package may contain a tracking device"
They're trying to find solutions...good for them and good for their customers.
excellent great idea.. but I wonder how much the average customer will have to pay for that ?.. I suspect that will be added to the charge for Prime if they do it

Because they cannot be sure it was truly stolen ... it is sad that people still have the mindset they can pretend... get another one and NOT see that is still stealing
they have the lockers but for some they are not happy with that as a friend said people always seem to be lurking there and makes her feel uncomfortable.
They now ask if you can send video, but if you can't, they'll still replace the item.

Tell your friend nevermind the lurkers, screw them. Go in with an attitude and they'll leave her alone. Thieves are cowards.

one locker at a nearby store has people all over it like dogs trying to get a treat out of a toy ...
gotten to the point cops just drive through there ... every 30 minutes.

i blame nearby bigger city who rented trucks to ship their homeless north of their city limits.
big bum fights for the local corners by a mall about 5 miles away

Probably, yes. But they're trying to work something out with state police...like shared cost or a subsidy or something.
yes that would never happen here in the UK.. the customer would have to bear the brunt of any extra cost..altho' tbf I do think we in the UK pay less for Amazon than the USA, not certain but I think so......our price is £79...annually

This is what google says ...for the USA...
$12.99 per month

Prime: $12.99 per month. If you want full Prime benefits but prefer to spread out your payments, you'll pay about $155 a year. If you receive qualifying government assistance, you can get a Prime membership for $5.99 per month.

This is ours.. possible threat of the prices rising...

Amazon Prime membership fee could soon rise to over £90, despite record UK sales of £23.6 billion.

Amazon had a bumper year in the UK, with sales jumping from £19.6 billion in 2020 to £23.6 billion last year but that won’t halt a rise of at least 17% in the cost of Prime membership, if it follows the lead of Amazon US, says the home delivery expert ParcelHero.

“Although not imminent, we’d be surprised if Amazon didn’t follow suit here in the UK, given the current increase in fuel and energy costs,” said ParcelHero’s head of consumer research, David Jinks.
In its Christmas quarter, Amazon posted a 9% rise in global net sales of just over £101.1 billion.

However, that hasn’t stopped it from bumping up its subscription fee for American customers by 17%, taking it from $119, or £88, to £139, close to £103.

A similar 17% rise in its UK membership fee would take it from £79 to £92, Amazon UK currently has around 15 million subscribers.

“Of course, Amazon likes the psychology of rounding off its fees with a number 9 (hence the US rise from $119 to $139). Retailers call this strategy “charm pricing”,” said Jinks.

How Observant Are You In The Course Of The Day?
I'm plenty observant BUT a little slow to process.
Meanwhile, my mind is flipping through a rolodex of possible excuses for the nefarious activity
searching for any remote benefit of the doubt.

This is how we caught out Doorstep thief..we have the Video ring doorbell, and altho' we weren't home when he stole the box, we were able to give the police very clear stills from the camera, and the police recognised and knew this guy very well , a local thief, so he was arrested , within 2 months he was in court, we didn't have to attend, he plead guilt, he was fined , and ordered to pay compensation to us.. he never did pay the comp, and he's probably never paid his fine , that was about 3 Christmases ago now...
I hope the company can use that as a tax write off.

I have heard this is why some people go on those court TV shows (don't know if you have them in your country) because the show I guess pays the winner and if there is judgement and the loser doesn't have to.

This is true. I'm not a seller on Etsy (I don't sell online at all) but I remember reading in the Etsy forum, post after post of sellers stating tracking showed delivered and the person claimed they never got the item. Things can get lost and stolen of coarse but people do lie. One seller did some investigating, found the customers public Facebook and there was a picture of the buyers kid wearing the t shirt ordered. The one the buyer claimed was never received. And these people are raising kids.

i used to do that but have realized far too many do not deserve the benefit of the doubt...... always try to see the angle sooner....

A 55+ is a stupid place for these criminals to go. They must realize many or most are retired and people are home. But I guess they are not smart enough to figure it out.

I'd probably notice this. I'm kind of untrusting.
yes, the idea that criminals are smart or careful, is just not necessarily the case. That is more the idea we get from movies and TV, than the reality. They will do many stupid things. To assume they will always function in some rational sense, is not wise.

Yesterday while out walking noticed a lot of fire/ police up the street saw a bus and a few cars.......... accidents common as we have kids in souped up cars trying to go too fast....
did not clear as fast as normal ........so i walked up a bit to see if a better view .... nope........ other neighbors did as well most just mad about having to reroute leaving etc not what is happening....
As i walked back i noticed a young lady ... neighborhood is all 55 plus ... carefully working her mask and a hoodie ........ sure she was worried about covid.... NOPE.......looking for packages or open doors as she stopped and looked closely at each porch ....i said hello she left quickly to next street ... hope all those who decided to walk down street locked up
what opportunists criminals are knowing curiosity most likely would leave doors open and masks once again are to hide your face ....

just be careful not to directly confront some criminal type, even if they are young and look thin, weak, stupid, etc. Just hand that over to law enforcement and let them do their job.

By the way, generally, with many law enforcement officers, they are particularly devoted to helping seniors. We remind them of their parents and grandparents and often, they are especially devoted to our community and to helping us. It is just human nature...

I posted some links about security and about dealing with fraud and scams...I will re-post them in this thread...

Sure, Remy, "55+ is a stupid place for these criminals to go." When I read this I figure, the criminals are not exactly smart.

these are punks and i carry a knife ... pure and simple i wont back away........ look directly at them and say i can and will pick you out of a line up ...they steer real clear of me..... too many people give them the idea they are scared not a good move....

Had to develop this after time and time again homeless trucked to my city from the low life big city south of here ... takes about 2 months to find slim pickings and they move back to said city ...........we are at the end of the time they will fly south to sweet pastures of big city for tourist season
my city is NOT welcoming to other cities problem.
