Grand Rapids Michigan Shooting

By now, this is pretty standard scenario-uncooperative, fighting black guy, running away, and shot by a white cop after a struggle for a taser/.gun. Whenever I see one of these videos, I always wonder why the black guy tries to run. I understand to avoid prosecution, but some of the "crimes" have been minor. and the flight response seems extremely strong. The moment the cop asked for a driver's license, it was obvious the black guy knew he was in trouble. In the same situation, do white guys try to run? Or is this a black guy response?. I'm a white guy, so I don't have the baggage of slavery and Jim Crow ,etc. It seems to me that the flight tendency of the black guy leads to a bad conclusion. It's just me, rambling.

I have a friend who lived in Grand Rapids until just a few years ago. She told me that there always were a lot of problems there.

Regardless of color ....
I have seen many a video and also some real life examples of escalation of trying to run away or fight.... asimple stop that would have been a ticket or citation.

A person stopped they may have no license or warrant for something else .................or in a person i knew a small amount of drugs .....
all fairly minor.............. but they decided trying to elude was a better route ended up with much much more serious long term issues ...
reasonable person would rather have a ticket or something then a assault charge etc.....

This played out over and over on shows like Cops or the one they cancelled for PC reasons Live PD.
I was amazed at how many stops the person should NOT have been on the road at all ......
no license / stolen car/ high or impaired .....if you can watch these reruns still on some channels ....you will see about 70 % stopped fit this category.

It was always baffling as well that............ Some people say "it is OK too small of issue leave the drivers alone ".............
UNTIL ...
they hit you.... car damage maybe someone in your life hurt or killed ....or someone you know hit etc..... THEN people want laws enforced....

I think this is one example where we have to walk a mile in another man's moccasins to fully understand.
