Saw an interesting TV ad.... would like comments...

Car ad...Jeep Wagoneer...starting @$89,000...

Really? In these times? 🙄

Is this realistic? Or Unrealistic?🤔
That is maybe the Grand Wagoneer with anticipated U.S. annual sales in the 15K range. The Wagoneer at $59K is anticipated to be about 30K annually. Both would fall into the "niche" market category. To put that in perspective... all models of Porsche were about 70K in 2021.

I would fall into the Camry category with 2021 sales of 313K, and a base around 25K... which will not be spent by me.

Car dealer lots are half empty, and prices are ridiculous...like most items. Buying or leasing a new car, anytime soon, is Not going to be a good financial decision. Smaller economy cars sell as soon as the hit the dealers lot, and all that's left are the big pricey pickups and SUV's.

Kelly Blue Book has the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer at $59,000. Maybe the 89K is a misprint. It's still a hunk of change, but you are buying a posh, loaded toy.
Thanks, I'll be on the lookout....for "my bad"?!?🙄

My old 2009 Hyundai needed a new everything, so I had to buy a new one. The dealer said that in view of the " new car shortage", and there was a "dealer mark up of $5.000". I said, "Yeah, right". Long story latter, and a few hours at the dealership the "deal" kept getting better and batter. Yeah, I did pay MSRP, but I had to have a car. BUT there was no extra $5,000. I wonder if they were using a supposed shortage to hype up prices. Maybe the 89K is a dealer bump up?

I remember when I was just starting out I was told that you shouldn't spend more than 6 months gross pay on a vehicle or 2 1/2 years gross pay for a home and you should never drive a better car or live in a better house than your boss. :giggle:

It amazes me that the average new car payment for 2022 is $609.00/month with a term of 72 months.

That payment is after the trade-in value has been applied to the new vehicle's purchase price.

I would never pay for a car , if I could get a house for the same price... added to that a car depreciates the second you drive it off the forecourt...
I know what you’re saying but you’d never get a house here for $89K. Not even just the land.

There’s a shortage of cars so they might just be testing the market for a fancy Jeep. It’s not uncommon to see trucks listed for $70K+, if there are any trucks on the lot.

And it amazes me just as much, that they put that price in the ad?
As if that price makes it sell quicker?o_O:unsure:
Are there some people who think that any car priced lower than 80K, is just junk and therefore not worth the purchase? 😐

What also has amazed me, myself recently, is the huge quantity of expensive new car ads.😲🤨
Are new car sales really going that strong, in these present times?

up in the north of England or even in parts of Wales you can buy a doer upper for £90k...very easily... here it costs 100k just for a one car garage

Over twice what I paid for my house and my car - both used, of course! The house was a stripped bank-owned repo, but hey - it came with a half-acre yard and was "just right" for me! AND my neighbor friend offered me a Jeep three days ago (I do need a safer car now) for $4,000.00. It was in fair shape and safe. The only issue is that my old, short bones and joints wouldn't allow me to get in it without a ladder! I think anyone willing to pay $89,000 for a vehicle is either wealthy beyond belief or just plain nuts (imo).
