Another “Month” being celebrated?

I don’t understand why recognition and honoring of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders is being combined into one month. Asian Americans come from many different countries and cultures, as do Pacific Islanders. Especially since some Asian countries have been at war with one another and might not want to be grouped together. Some have have attacked Pacific Islanders .
I have respect for all. But I think this combination may be too broad on both parts and does not give either group the individual respect they deserve.

You make a very good point. I wish they would get rid of assigning stuff to months, days, and all holidays. Who makes these decisions? If we need time off from work, just take it. We are all being crammed into smaller and smaller boxes....and I say resist. Viva la resistance!

I agree, don't see the point to many of these. But hey if it makes someone feel better I am always good for that.

Think I will have a toast tonight honoring both the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and Cinco de Mayo. Always up for a reason to have a drink!

This will undoubtedly go away sometime in the not-to-distant future. Until then I wish we just had an all-inclusive Ancestral Month.

The only holidays we celebrate are those which include the kids and grandkids. If we don't get together with them, it's just another day on the calendar.
