OK! @hollydolly
We could talk rugby. !!Someone once told me that you should never spoil a conversation with talk about football, religion or politics.
We can't discuss politics on this forum. Not many people seem to be interested in football (soccer).
Why should we be able to discuss religion?
Yes, I know that I pitch in sometimes - often just to counteract what I perceive as a "Christian" bias in the posts.
Should be be banning talk of religion?
Why?opinions about religion are always interesting
Because as science progresses opinions trying to prove a point one way or the other pop up. When science is involved that usually has posters scrambling for something to agree with or try to disproveWhy?
But why should they care in the first place?Because as science progresses opinions trying to prove a point one way or the other pop up.
Scrambling? When science is involved that usually has posters scrambling for something to agree with or try to disprove
I don't get a lot of different things that are posted but for me reading what others think is interesting. Religion just happens to be a topic that usually generates a lot of posts. But why should they care in the first place?
I just don't get it. Thanks, but I just wonder Who Cares what someone believes or disbelieves.
From the number of folks around here who keep preaching in my face, evidently a LOT of them care. But why should they care in the first place?

That's quite an accomplishment! Too bad you didn't publish. Is it too late, or I guess you've thought that through already.Medieval & Renaissance Studies focusing mostly on Art History, Languages & Literature, & Religion from a very reputable University. My book thesis is almost 400 pages and is in the University library and has been discussed in class work as well as used for research. It wasn't published for a very dumb reason on my part.
And that is the beauty of choice!!. If one doesn't like the topic they can just skip it, find one they like or start their own. Problem solvedThere is already a recent thread here on religion and it's rather contentious as far as I am concerned. I refuse to be brought into that fray.
Too late for that. Thanks for your kind words. That's quite an accomplishment! Too bad you didn't publish. Is it too late, or I guess you've thought that through already.
And that is the beauty of this forum. Anything that one is not interested in can be skipped. ..and we even have the opportunity to come up with whatever we are really interested in by starting new threads! But why should they care in the first place?

I have a divided family too but the differing political views do not live together..I have one relative with whom I refuse to discuss ANYTHING political...they are way too emotional and disagreement leads to drama...so I do not allow it to start.I live in a "house divided" when it comes to politics. I get enough of discussing politics in my living room....and bedroom ....and kitchen....and occasionally the bathroom....its the last thing I want to discuss on here.
I'll discuss religion.....gently and respectfully. I don't care if you worship God, Buddha, Allah, Rama, or the tree in your back yard AS LONG AS you don't want to persecute me for not doing the same.
OK...We could talk rugby. !!
OK to talk about Rugby?? It could lead to heated discussions about which is better Rugby, Soccer or American football. But taking a chance is what makes threads interesting.OK...![]()
the difference is we can prove who is better or not....OK to talk about Rugby?? It could lead to heated discussions about which is better Rugby, Soccer or American football. But taking a chance is what makes threads interesting.![]()
American football rightthe difference is we can prove who is better or not....
In the past I have thought to myself that I admire the way you (Lara) present your Christian beliefs. Most know that I enjoy clarifying misunderstood scripture. It's a challenge and fine-tunes my communication skills.
The Kiwis, obviously.the difference is we can prove who is better or not....

My beliefs don’t necessarily fall in line with yours. But you always calmly give your opinion and I’ve never felt you try to force your beliefs on others in the Forum.
As far as other Forum religious post , some I read, some I scan, some I skip. But I rarely get upset about any of them.
I think religion is a personal thing. I see no reason to have lots of threads about Christianity in the "General Discussion" category.Should be be banning talk of religion?
