Are there any actors you don't like to watch?

Maybe sometimes it's better not to know too much about people. You could miss an enjoyable film because of a bias against one of the actors.
I've read that during cinema's golden age studios were careful to protect their star's private lives.

Can you imagine living in the fish bowl these people are in? No wonder so many are alcoholics or take drugs.
You are right...I can not imagine the stress of so much lack of privacy ...The best I can do now is try to not judge anyone for anything because we all have challenges and we all do the best we can with our understanding of the moment....not always easy to do! :D

Just thought of Ben Affleck. Don't really care for his acting. Never watch anything w/him in it.
No to Mark Walhburg, Jeremy Renner. Leonardo DiCaprio is ok.

The actors today just can't compare to those of the years past. ie: Tommy Lee Jones Peter Coyote Michael Douglas

Most of them ...... which is why watching TV is a waste, and in my life i have so seldom gone to the movies.

The last two movies I did see were ........ The Amelia Earhart story & the Worlds Fastest Indian..... Both were of course based on actual people & [heard] later , they both were considered pretty accurate.

The biggest laugh I had about Tom Cruise was when he played Jack Reacher in the adaption of the book. In the books, Reacher was 6 foot 5 inches and 230 pounds. Cruise is 5 foot 7 inches.

Same was true of Gibson in Bravehart . Gibson is something like 5'6-5'7 And the actual William Wallace was [it is said] 7' tall . At one point, Gibson tried wearing Wallace's sword ........ it drug the ground.

I agree. He was BIG in size but his acting was terrible. I don't why why he was so popular?

I can't name any actors I don't like but I can say I don't like comedies with those totally stupid laugh tracks. It's like the audience is so stupid that they need a laugh track to tell them when to laugh. Gee! Also, I don't like movies with needless swearing all the time; which means I prefer British over American films. Also, I enjoy the old movies and keep away from new films like they were poison ivy!

There are so many threads about actors we love, I was wondering if there are actors you don't care to watch.

Do any of you NOT watch a movie because of the genre or the actors? Who or what do you not like to watch in movies?

I don't enjoy horror movies or slapstick. Horror movies are just too graphic for me. Exploring the dark side of the human psyche can be interesting, but not when it's accompanied by torture and a lot of blood and guts. I don't like that kind of blood and guts. If I want to watch blood and guts without all the attendant murder and mayhem, I can watch an autopsy.

My father found the Wile E. Coyote/Roadrunner cartoons hysterical. He'd bust a gut laughing. What about me? Not at all, even as a kid. I'd look at him like he was an escaped mental patient, lol. The Three Stooges? The hair pulling, slapping, head conks, eye pokes, etc., nope, not funny. My father would laugh like he was deranged. I don't watch that genre because I don't think it's funny.

Before talkies, slapstick was a way of telling a story. The Three Stooges talked, but beating up each other was the way they communicated. Although I'm not fond of slapstick in general, I do have an appreciation for Buster Keaton because, unlike The Three Stooges, he didn't just smack people around for a laugh. He was multidimensional, a performance artist, acrobat, and stuntman, writer, director, and cinematographer.

I enjoy classic film noir, other old movies, documentaries/biographies, and indie films. I also enjoy films with visual effects but not those that rely heavily on obviously computer generated special effects. The best visual effects are the ones you never notice, the ones that don’t take you out of the experience because you don't notice they're there.

This is an example of what I dislike. The entire movie is composed of computer generated effects/green screen.

👎Two thumbs down.👎Overrated IMO.

I'm sure they are great in their profession, so i guess it's a personal preference.
I'm a big fan of old black and white movies, but I steer away from musicals, slapstick and horror movies.

I don’t know if he did any acting and I don’t think this opinion will be popular, but Bob Hope. Even as a little girl, his constant sexism made me uncomfortable.

Oops! I goofed big time! The above are actors I like. There aren't many I don't like - except Mel Gibston and Tom Cruise - and I don't feel particularly strongly about them. I like most of the Martial Artists (except Steven Segal) iif for no other reason than that I was a student of TaeKwondo for +/- 10 years

I don't watched horror movies or tv shows. The bar is very low -- much of what I consider to be horror is not horror to anyone else I know. The horror shows (and books) scare me. I know they are fiction, I've sat through one before, but my mind doesn't seem to grasp that.

I love musicals, mostly on stage, rarely on TV. My favorite one is Seussical. It was so much fun!

As for actors, I mostly don't know their names and wouldn't recognize them on the street. That's just not my thing.

James Shigita & James Franciscis! I love those guys, especially Shigita! Haven't thought of them in years!

I stay away from horror movies. Too unsettling. I prefer musicals, comedies, romantic drama, and old movies.
I never liked actors that had creepy voices - like James Mason
For some reason, I didn't like these actors/actresses and watched very few of their films, if at all - Woody Allen, Maurice Chevalier, Vincent Price, William Holden, Bette Davis, Stewart Granger, Fred McMurray, Robin Williams (except when he was in "Mork and Mindy"), Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson, Robert DeNiro......probably a lot more, but I'll stop here.

I don't like Sean Penn or Sharon Stone.
Sean Penn because he went to Mexico to visit "El Chapo" Guzman (before El Chapo was extradited to the U.S. for being one of the top drug lords in the entire world. And El Chapo was a cold blooded killer of hundreds.
Sharon Stone because of her hated of men. She once said, " The more famous I become, the more power I have to hurt men".

Also, I don't care for Leonardo DiCaprio. It was a joke that he was cast to play the role of Howard Hughes, in the movie The Aviator. Hughes may have been crazy , but he was all man ,AND he was quite tall. DiCaprio ? Short and looked like a boy.
