I have been dealing with sneezing, runny nose, and some pain in my sinuses. I take Benydril when it is necessary. In also where a covid mask if I go outside. How do you deal with spring allergies?

How do I deal with spring allergies, or in my case, all year round allergies? I always have a supply of tissues with me.....and I have a box of tissues in every room.
My father had hay fever and anti-histamines made him sleepy. It's a difficult choice....sleepiness or sneezing?

I use sea salt rinses .. can't remember the brand name. It works to clear out the sinuses quite well. I used to take antihistamines, but, with all my allergies, would have to take them constantly. Didn't want to do that. I also used to get shots, and stopped that as well.

Edit: The nasal wash is HydraSense.

the old home remedy is pretty simple...

limit or eliminate wheat, milk and sugar...and it should drop the histamine levels down enough to, at least reduce the allergic response.

sugar of course, is the worst.

And the more of those three that you do at a single sitting, the worst it is.

So, for example, having a cheeseburger with a wheat bun and dessert...you get all three in one sitting.

If folks want to look into natural remedies, this book is well known..

"No More Allergies" by Gary Null...

Gary Null is one of the natural health people who tends to document his ideas with professional scientific studies...

Oh, and in the house, don't forget air filters...they really reduce pollen.

We have a simple one from Holmes. Works fine. Costs about $40?? Something like that. Then you have to clean one filter maybe once a month and replace another oh, every few months.

Works best if you set it up in a small room and close the door. Like your office or the bedroom. And they are light. Can easily move them from room to room.

I've had chronic allergies all my life, mostly sinus. All the usual OTC meds only work marginally, if at all. Benadryl of course will work, but then I'd be asleep all the time.
If I lived by the beach(like when in my mid teens) I'd have zero problem, living inland in So. Cal. is where all the allergens collect, because of the mountains. Here in the High Desert the air is constantly blowing through, so less problem than down in the valleys.

Yes I've had allergy problems for years, I stay relatively free most of the time by keeping dust to a minimum, no animals in the house, changing a/c filter once a month, wear a mask outside and I take a Claritin every day and sometimes a Benadryl at night if allergy is acting up and I have used the salt wash occasionally. There have been times in the past that I've had to get shots but not recently.

I consider myself very lucky, have none of these issues, but have friends that do.
It’s not fun at all.....sorry so many of you deal with this.....I’m sure it’s hard to enjoy spring and summer due to allergies.

I use Quercetin With Bromelain and Stinging Nettle Root. These help me more than the OTC allergy pills including Allegra and Benadryl.
I this what you use.....supplement not brand?

They're brand supplements. I use the NOW Quercetin With Bromelain brand and also the SWANSON Stinging Nettle Root brand. I also have used the NOW brand of the Stinging Nettle. If I can't get one brand, I will substitute for one I can get. I just try different brands of these and which ever works the best for me is the one I use. Good Luck!

I finished the Prednisone and it did not work. The pain in my sinuses are worse along with pain in my abdominal and feet/calves. I bought some Quercetin and Stinging Nettles...took them at 10am. Just rested for a few hours but no relief from the pain...the level is about 9. I have tried 2 Ibuprofen at once and it helped a bit. The Quercetin and Stinging Nettles haven't helped yet.....should I keep taking them anyway ( works in a week or so? ).

Almost called the Doc today, but decided not to. This is quite a ordeal and I don't know what to do about it.

It took me several days to notice any difference. It's like it had to get in my system before it did anything. But, I don't have pain but I do have a lot of drainage, watery eyes, etc.
