Bright, shining stars': Family of 5 killed in connection with escaped inmate ID'd

Waylon just graduated from Tomball High School where he played baseball. He and his younger brothers were the only children of Chris and Misti Collins. She is a teacher in Tomball ISD.
The family released a statement Friday evening.
"We are devastated by the loss of our dear family members at the family ranch in Centerville, Texas," the statement read. "These precious people who loved and were loved by so many, will never be forgotten."
Andy Kahan with Crime Stoppers Houston read the statement at a news conference alongside Crain and the family's pastor.
"I just want to ask everybody to pray for them, give them a virtual hug," Kahan said. "They have an incredibly long, emotionally draining, grueling journey ahead of them."

if we care so much, please tell me where the non-stop media attention might be. Did our President pay the town a visit? Flags at half-staff? Where are all the outraged politicians demanded we do something?

You are totally missing the point....

Apparently, the escaped convict got hold of the pistol and AR-15 from the families ranch and that's probably what he used to kill them. Had they not had those guns in the house, they might still be alive.

So, yeah, we need to do something.

Details are lacking.
Did the escapee befriend the family to gain their trust? (He probably was not armed when he confronted the family)
Were they too trusting?
Did they have a plan in place for such an incident?

Nobody I don't know or am not expecting sets foot on my property.

I doubt if they befriended a stranger, knowing that an escaped murderer was in their area. He probably broke into the house to steal the guns, then someone spotted him so he killed them all.

Sounds like grandpa bought an AR-15 for some reason I'll never understand.

Now some poor woman has to mourn three sons and a father. I can't imagine it.

With mass shooting happening almost daily we can't expect the president to visit every town where it happens or the media to have as much coverage. Sad as this is, it's not the same as 19 children shot at once.

That’s a very sad story. I am sorry their family must get through this tragedy.

Uvalde did not ask for all the attention. It is a quiet and peaceful town.

Let's not forget that the victims were children who had yet started to live their lives.

All victims are innocent. All killers, regardless of race...are evil and heartless.
