This thread is intended to be about names of individuals of some note who have very striking names, such as Roderick Swanson, who I once saw on stage in London, (on the South Bank), giving a lecture on the history of music, maybe twenty years ago.

Here is a link concerning his interests etc.

Have you come across people with similarly striking or unusual names you sort of cant forget?

(Btw, the guy was absolutely brilliant, and played piano to demonstrate the differing eras of classical music, and how each composer built upon what had gone before)

Shania Twain is a cool name.

One of the Lakers (basket ball team) is named Metta World Peace.

Former baseball player and pitching coach for the Cubs is named Dick Pole and former outfielder for the Chicago White Sox (baseball) is named Rusty Kuntz. 😅

Well, I don't know much about classical music so I will have to go with Jon Bon Jovi. The leader of an American rock band that was very popular. I still enjoy his music today. He is still recording. He also acted in a view movies.

Shania Twain is a cool name, (and a cool gal of course, I wonder if the name has been selected because of the author and historical figure Mark Twain, or was her name from birth?).

Some other slightly odd names have come to signify something because there was once someone notorious bearing the name, like Dick Turpin the highwayman in England centuries ago, (not to be confused with another Dick Turpin who was a brilliant light weighed boxer around seventy years ago).

Engelbert Humperdinck is some name I agree, and in his successful career he became popular in the USA as well as over here. I've come to appreciate how good he was more recently, perhaps because I've heard recordings of his singing on better car music systems.

I love the names of some of my favorite British actors; Honeysuckle Weeks, Benedict Cumberbatch, Prunella Scales. They were born for the stage!

Sam Champion, meteorologist primarily for ABC. Sam was so cute in his younger days and looked so perfect all the time, I said they should make little Sam Champion dolls.
