Does anyone else just take it a day at a time

I am so tired of all the things going on right now. We all just need a break, take the news in stride and keep doing what we have done. We can't change inflation, the cost of groceries, gas, utilities, medical care. We can't end the war in Ukraine. So much of this can be only changed by the people we elect to govern and protect us, our welfare.

I have adjusted for inflation, the cost of groceries, gas, utilities and medical care. I am lucky that I have no mortgage or car payment. I am lucky that I have never had luxuries, it is not a problem to cut back or go without, I have done it many times.

I worry more for others that don't have enough to pay their bills, buy food, gas, utilities, have young growing families. Those of us who have no one to turn to if they are in trouble. Please if you need help and qualify for any service apply! If you can go to your local food or church food bank go. I would not hesitate at all if I needed help.

A Paraphrase from memory: Are you tired, worn out, heavy burdened by religion, politics and the world overall/in general ? "Come to Me" the Messiah offered, and I Will Give You Rest. I Am Meek and Lowly, and My Instructions Will Free You, and Will Bring You Peace, and Comfort, and Solace, and Rest for your soul.

Need a break - don't take the news in stride. Don't watch it at all for a week.
Realize the people in office are not concerned with our welfare, nor with actual nor true peace - it doesn't matter what demonitation they are in , or party, or what side they seem to be on. At least there's been little to no evidence so far.

It will surprise you that I am not a regular watcher of news, only my local news and weather. I am also not registered to vote in my local, state or national elections. I leave those to the people that are smart, active and stay informed on the issues at hand. I am the person that does not want to worry, spend my time trying to make sense of what is being thrown out for us to decipher. I just try to adapt with the situations thrown my way,

Ditto. I take it one day at a time. I also have no mortgage or car payment and just do the best I can to make sure I don't outlive my money.

I record the news on DVR and fast forward through whatever is just sensational and doesn't affect me. However, I have been watching everything re: the Uvalde shootings and have gotten emotional as the victims have been described and as one of the surviving teachers has been interviewed. I do also want to see any potential progress in Congress re: gun regulations.

I also worry for others that aren't as fortunate as we are. I have donated to Chef Jose Andres' initiatives in the Ukraine and have also regularly donated to North Texas Food Bank. When I first retired in June 2020, I was looking at every opportunity to volunteer but everything was closed due to Covid. I even asked my veterinarian if they took volunteers. Lately, I've been lazy, but your post has made me realize that it is time to start researching again which organizations need help, so thank you.

I have some happy Ukraine news for a change! I was in a Sausalito (Ca) Starbucks this afternoon. Walked up to the cash register and gave my order to a young blond woman. We exchanged a few words and I noticed a familiar strong accent -- one that I have only heard on the news. I asked her if she was from Ukraine and she replied Ukraine is my country. I smiled and said Welcome. Later we both waived as I was leaving. I guess I encountered my first Ukrainian refugee. I still smile thinking about it. (-8

I have walked on thru the wind and the rain, my dreams have been tossed and blown, I have kept my heart open but I have not found, yet that golden sky has not been found. I know it is out there and I will continue to try to find it. Thank you so much for such a post that really touched me!

Well shame on you. This is a democracy which depends upon your vote, whichever way you lean. It's nothing to be proud of.

Does not want to worry. An excuse not to vote. Self protection against reality. More should worry, more not less.

Unpatriotic to give up your right to vote, a right people have struggled and died for. Your attitude is poison for this nation.

At this point in my life, finally, I have no personal crisis awaiting around the next corner. So, in that sense, I am in a better position to take things one day at a time. But, the state of the nation and the state of the world still burden me with worry. I listen to numerous news broadcasts most days, taking only an occasional news break for my mental health. I always vote. I speak my mind, though I know that in this limited forum, it will not change anything.

Taking one vagary at a time diminishes them into nothingness.
This seems to be the only way to handle things at this time.
Please keep the oaths of country, of flag, of memories of warriors slain.
When things seem insurmountable, don't give up.

Yes, I think APATHY will be the end of society as we know it.
APATHY is the end of marriages, the end of Democracy, the end of civility.
The now world of pain will creep unto demise.
The last breath of freedom and laugh shall descend upon the world.
Those with fight to hold the rights will now bend to fit in with the lowly ways of man.
Dark befalls the men of earth.
Dark envelops man.

These ways must end in fight. No other ways show face.
Speak out, even if your voice be surrendered in the fight.
Speak as your honor tells you.
Don't let your voice die in apathy. Don't let go.

That's true, but if we can't keep ourselves sane in the moment we may not make it to vote in the next election. Right now our own health and sanity matters. When elections come we can better deal with that.

That's a bit harsh. If you're not going to educate yourself on the issues your better off not voting. And what has voting got us? We've had both parties now have complete control in recent years and where has it gotten us? No where good, imo. I still vote but I'm getting less and less convinced it does any good.
