Over 24 Million Dollars In Marijuana Sales In N.J. In Just One Month

Have we? My whole life I've been told it's a good thing because it's natural and it makes everyone mellow and peaceful. Sure, there was a 1930's sexploitation film that used "reefer madness" as an excuse to film "girls gone wild" before that became it's own franchise. It was so farfetched it actually encouraged marijuana use. Another factor is than what we used in college 50 years ago was only about a third as strong as what's in use now.

What I almost never hear anyone bring up is how harmful it is to young brains that aren't fully developed until the mid twenties. Studies show it lowers IQ, motivation, and self-control. Not what we really want in our young people.

Anecdotal reports from law-enforcement say most young offenders have been using MJ at the time of arrest, but none seem to have kept careful records.

"We need more studies," is what all the articles about brain health or about criminal activity say. I guess with 23 states legalizing it we will soon have plenty of evidence about the effects, with this young generation being the guinea pigs.
and not only brain health or criminal activity, think of other repercussions:

1. The belief "if it's legal, it must be safe."

2. If it's legal, and widely accepted, young people naturally wanting to be 'different' from their elders will look for something that is not.

Back in the 70's, my group of friends lost their supplier and turned to alcohol. They turned from friendly, benign folks into stuporous dullards and/or mean drunks. I broke off connections with most of them. Just saying.

Tax money or not it is unhealthy, and it is the government duty to protect the people, especially the kids. It is not the same MJ during the 60s. Today it is a more synthetic drug. Some do spray liquid opioid on it to get people hooked.

These days breathing is unhealthy. The feds should just legalize it. That in itself would remove some of the incentive for kids to smoke. The last thing they want to do is what their parents, and grand parents are. The war on drugs (Nixon) has been a huge, unbelievably expensive, and totally ineffective program. Countries who have legalized all drugs have seen drastic reductions in use, and in deaths. Go figure.

Which countries are they?

I guess decriminalization would have been the more correct term. Just the money saved on incarceration would be huge, not to mention the justice, and social issues it would solve.
Partly I agree with you. The problem is most of the patients I treated were in prisons for drug related crimes and that is including murders. How are they going to filter decriminalization.

I am sorry to hear that. We all have our ups and downs and to cope with it we need skills of life.
I listen to Ritchie Sambora if I come to a rough period and it helps.
