and not only brain health or criminal activity, think of other repercussions:Have we? My whole life I've been told it's a good thing because it's natural and it makes everyone mellow and peaceful. Sure, there was a 1930's sexploitation film that used "reefer madness" as an excuse to film "girls gone wild" before that became it's own franchise. It was so farfetched it actually encouraged marijuana use. Another factor is than what we used in college 50 years ago was only about a third as strong as what's in use now.
What I almost never hear anyone bring up is how harmful it is to young brains that aren't fully developed until the mid twenties. Studies show it lowers IQ, motivation, and self-control. Not what we really want in our young people.
Anecdotal reports from law-enforcement say most young offenders have been using MJ at the time of arrest, but none seem to have kept careful records.
"We need more studies," is what all the articles about brain health or about criminal activity say. I guess with 23 states legalizing it we will soon have plenty of evidence about the effects, with this young generation being the guinea pigs.
1. The belief "if it's legal, it must be safe."
2. If it's legal, and widely accepted, young people naturally wanting to be 'different' from their elders will look for something that is not.
