Britons shared memes about how they struggled to get to sleep overnight amid the hot weather with temperatures not dropping below 20C (68F) in some areas.
The UK will officially be in heatwave conditions today with the mercury set to hit 34C (93F) after highs of 29.5C (85.1F) yesterday and 28.2C (82.8F) on Wednesday.
And the overnight temperatures gave people no respite, as they tweeted that the heat was still 'too much' at 11pm despite having fans on and windows open.
Others were up at 4am because they could not sleep, or had an uncomfortable night before being woken up by 'bird song which sound like screaming'.
The UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office have issued a Level Three heat-health alert for London, the East of England and the South East.
