Doesn't seem like we've had any summer yet....

Where I'm at, I think summer technically starts in a few days. So far the weather here has been kind of moody - cloudy, breezy, and chilly, then blazing hot an hour later, and back to chilly in the evening. That usually happens in the fall.

Ooo, we put the duvet back on the bed, last night! Almost put the heat on this morning but ended up just closing all the windows tightly. I'm glad I didn't put all my sweaters away just yet. Overnight temps are forecast for the 40s for a few more days. I'm sure summer will hit us with full force soon!

We went from winter straight into summer...way hotter than normal for the the last month and a half.
Seems like a lot of the country is above normal and dry, with the rest of the country being below normal and flooding.
our summer took a while getting here altho' we did have a beautiful March.. but this last week has been the hottest all year...at 90 plus.. cooler today after storms yesterday but set to be hot again from Wednesday

Its been an okay spring into summer around south Manchester, UK, I feel, and farmers have made plenty of haulage, and now hay in the last week or so, (though maybe the weather has been more "localised" than usual as a family nearby pub/bar on the edge of the Peak District says they haven't had the walkers and other visitors this year as he'd expected?). :)

I have been finding it shocking, these recent days,
even though you'd think I'd be used to it by my age now,
;):geek::D

how very light it is, extremely early in the morning, (before 5 a.m.)
and until very late in evening, ( 9 pm) when it finally begins to get dark.
That's 16 hours of daylight!
That will start shortening soon, by very tiny increments.

I think you'll notice it surprisingly quite quickly... sunrise is at 4.41am , sunset is at 9.23pm currently here

Those darn tweety birds seem to think we have 24 hours of daylight. The day is long, more like 18, just not worth them chirping at midnight. I don’t want that happiness when I’m trying to sleep. Then the next group go full volume around 3:30 AM.

As a kid, summer started the last day of school (the Friday before Memorial Day) and ended the first day of the new school year (the day after Labor Day.). Now, I prefer to use the Astronomical definitions, which places summer from Summer Solstice to Autumnal Equinox. But in the end it doesn't really matter.

Mid to high 90s here in Central Florida all last week

We sure did! We re-planted in the Spring (which maybe lasted a few days) and those plants are now dying from the heat. I can't believe how many 100+ degree days we have already seen in TX. :(

I sleep at the front of the house for that very reason... I have so many trees in my rear garden it's like an aviary out there ..dozens of Collared doves, Wood pigeons.. very noisy magpies.. and all the little birds like sparrows, starlings, jays and blackbirds.. they start off before it gets light.. and during the day I can hear the pigeons snoring in the trees... and then they're awake until twilight

We have had hot hot hot here in southern Ontario. And the weatherman is promising another week of 30 plus temps. Some of my veggies cannot take the heat, the peas especially have scorched tips and they were just about ready to bloom.

I am not a fan of this weather.....makes me just plain crabby.....can't wait till fall and winter.
