That looks like a ray. It's hideous :eek:
Look for the you-tube videos of schools of rays swimming thru the ocean - they are gorgeous and 'poetic'.

I was on my beach in MA and found a large ray, about a quarter of this size, washed up on the shore. It was very exotic. I was sorry I was alone on the beach and couldn't talk about it with anyone. It scared me, but was strangely beautiful.
 
How excited they all look! :)

Catching a stingray is very exciting. My Dad, 2 brothers, and grandpa would rent a row boat and fish an inlet near Monterey. There was a power plant that released hot/warm water and they would be around there. Probably the biggest was about 100 lbs. Same with catching sharks too. We released them after.
