All this gun violence is just too much. Just over the weekend shootings injuring and killing officers and others has occurred.

"According to an arrest report, Lance Storz, who was armed with a rifle, fired multiple rounds at police officers around his home, killing two officers and a police K9. The arrest report said five other officers and an emergency management director were injured, though state police said four officers and one civilian were hurt."
A third officer died later in the hospital. The Floyd County Attorney is visibly shaken as he's interviewed about the killings.

"A gunman killed two people and wounded three police officers and another resident in the Fort Worth area of Texas on Saturday evening before he turned a weapon on himself, police said. A man and a woman were killed and an “elderly female” who called in the incident had injuries not thought to be life-threatening, police said."

I could be wrong but isn't Fort Worth where @dseag2 lives ?

No, he is Dallas. Where this happened is called Haltom City. It is about ten minutes or less from my neighborhood. It is an older but lovely neighborhood. It is not an area that you would think of gun violence. As we have all learned, there is no place where this can't happen. We would have bought there back in the day but the prices were higher than where I am now. I have the same size house in a great area but with a lower cost.

oh thanks for the clarification ,..good to know he's not near any danger.. I know someone here is in Fort Worth..

This pos not only ambushed the police he was holding his own family hostage. The fact he was willing to kill and hold family hostage show the sadistic selfish nature of the CRIMINALS. He was mad at the world. I can't believe there weren't more signs from the coward years ago. It's the will to kill. What should be a thought that is never entertained seems to get regular play in too many defective criminal minds.

RIP officers

I wouldn't know what is a bad area from a good area in the USA...
Seems there are no "good" areas anymore, since Highland Park is an upscale suburb of Chicago and 6 died there due to a mass shooting during a 4th of July parade. The gunman was 22 y/o, positioned himself on top of a building and started firing into the crowd. There is really no truly safe public area in the US anymore.

It's a rare day when the news doesn't report a mass shooting somewhere in the country. More and more people seem to be going nuts.
My opinion is that more and more people are becoming too stressed out and that is a major reason for all the shootings. The cost of rent and food has sky-rocketed. Back in the day, a husband had no problem supporting a wife and stay at home mother. Those days will never return.

However most of the mass shooters are between 18 and early 20's.

True enough. But stress is stress, even if a guy is only 20.
PS: by the time I was age 20, I had been living on my own for 3 years, paying rent and living a pretty decent life. Not too many 20 year olds can say that today.

So, why exactly are we arming them?

"We" are not arming them ....... the laws are established for legal buying .

And at what point do we draw the line of can & cannot buy. If I were a gun dealer , I would have refused to sell to this guy on appearence alone, and I feel sure that he acts just as goofy as he looks.

Now ...... If I would have acted as I said, and he hurt no one ....... each & everyone of you here would have said I was wrong and didn't deserve to be in business, I was discriminatory , etc, etc. I would have beem labeled judgemental and an a$$hole etc, etc.

I do not know how his threats of violence got passed the ones that decide ?? But maybe that is not enough to refuse him weapons ....... it sure as hell should be IMO.

But also IMO ....... denying law abiding citizens that right to own an object is not right either .

Only the cops and the Military need assault weapons, and 30 or more shells in a clip are begging for trouble. No one hunts with such weapons they are made for killing people! There was a time when they were outlawed. How soon will the NRA push for personal atomic bombs?

It's hard to argue what you say but ........ The gun industry is an employer of many people , and I am against infringing on any of our exsisting rights .

I don't care to own such a weapon , but I have known those that do, and they are just an item to collect , to those people. One guy I knew [he is now deceased] shot in competition with such a weapon ..... a sporting event.
Should we take that entertainment / past time / enjoyment away from those .... like him that enjoy it ?

I mean, let's face it there have been cases where people used automobiles & trucks to kill multiple people. The problem is with the person, not the implement used.

In light of all theses most recent "attacks" I do support deeper background checks , and at the site of the first "red-flag" deny the sale and IMO alert authorities . When a guy threatens to kill his family , and the police are called to remove a collection of knives , etc ........... that is obviously a dangerous man. And HE should be dealt with, not law abiding citizens.
