Covid... the second time around

Validity tests have been done at various times after onset of symptoms, and the results vary. It's affected by which type of test is given, and who is doing it, how soon after symptoms appear, plus many other variables. I don't consider the tests highly accurate, but the results appear to be from 78% to 97% range. I only checked this on the first two hits I got from google. There are probably other studies that yielded different results.

How accurate are at-home tests?
https://www.healthline.com/health/how-accurate-are-rapid-covid-tests#at-home-tests

At-home tests aren’t as accurate as gold standard PCR tests, but they still play a role in catching COVID-19 cases that otherwise would have gone undetected. Like other antigen COVID-19 tests, home COVID-19 tests have a higher chance of a false negative than a false positive — meaning it’s more likely that the test will indicate you don’t have COVID-19 when you do have it than report you do have it when you don’t.

In an August 2021 study Trusted Source, researchers compared the validity of home antigen tests compared to PCR lab tests for detecting COVID-19 infection. Within days 0 to 12 of symptom onset, the home tests correctly identified 78.9 percent of people who did have the virus and correctly identified 97.1 percent of people who didn’t have the virus.

When taken within 3 days of symptom onset, home tests correctly identified 96.2 of COVID-19 cases. The researchers found tests taken 3 days after symptoms appeared were almost as accurate as tests taken the day symptoms started.
Thanks for sharing Something like dseag described has been going around this area for a while. No one mentioned taking a test.

Noooooo!!! 😱 I'm so sorry to read this my friend. I will definitely keep you in prayer. I swear by zinc and my honorary daughter said a nurse told her to start taking vitamins C and D when she became infected. My granddaughter just got over COVID and I sent her some zinc and D by her father when he went to visit her in Atlantic City this weekend. She already takes C. So hopefully those are or will be among the supplements you take. I'm glad you didn't lose your sense of taste. I hope your symptoms stay on the mild side.

Keep getting better, and stay in touch. I like reading your comments and thinking about your thoughtful perspectives.

I think the tests were kind of hit a miss in the beginning, and people didn't really know what to do with them. I vaguely remember reading something about how they improved them, but I still don't know how much help they are. Most people aren't going to test unless they start feeling ill or even really ill. And if they refuse to quarantine themselves, nothing changes. Omicron spreads like wildfire, and people have given up on masks, while reinfections are showing up quite frequently. Vaccinations and boosters helped a lot, and maybe this is the best we can expect.

So glad to see this! I checked yesterday to see if you'd posted and was about to today when I saw the thread was updated.

Social distanced hugs for you. Hope you continue to get better!

it's really taken a hold again here in the Uk and hospitals are filling up again. There's talk again of restricting movement and mask wearing in public.... I really don't want that happening again. This year has been horrendous for Brits and continues to get worse.. so many companies striking including Nurses.. and train drivers.. .. enormous Utility Bills, a rise of 54% which no-one can meet .. HUGE cost of fuel... .. summer heat from hell, and threats of water restrictions .. airline cancellations in the thousands, and airports grinding to a halt, stranding thousands of passengers .. masks and restrictions again will just be the final straw

Can you cite a specific news program or are they merely fictitious stations that only exist in people's imaginations?
Ditto. Just keep eyes open.

Remember only merely fictitious news has reported any of the jabs work enough to get them. It is just not worth putting toxins in, since it creates worse toxic conditions instead of helping anyone, except of course the moneey grubbers who give themselves the famous saline shots if anything.

It is a little difficult to find hard data these days
No , it has never been difficult.

Believe what you will, as you have, and keep going that direction. jab jab jab ? ouch ouch ouch.

Nothing makes data trustworthy these days, and it has all been contradicted and is contrary to "the virus theory" anyway for a hundred years. Yes, nothing new under the sun - the plannedemic was just that, planned ...

I hear there may be shots available that prevent death of being trampled by elephant. "Effective" one hundred percent of the time, by killing the patient before they ever see an elephant.

Kind of like dying from pneumonia, YES , they did not die from aids or cvd. See, the jab works.

Is that what the infamous "elephant in the room" is ?

Yes, we are seeing cases rise considerably here in the US as well, but our hospitalizations are not up nearly as much as during the original pandemic. I'm surprised there are so many severe cases in the UK, although I'm not doubting you. Indications are that whatever the latest variant is (I've stopped keeping track) is more contagious but less severe. New York City is also once again recommending masks indoors, although I don't think there is a mandate.

I'm sorry for everything you've been going through in the UK. I saw the story about Heathrow restricting the number of flights because they can no longer handle the influx of tourists, and all the luggage that has gone into the "black hole". I also know your fuel costs are astronomical. I can relate to the summer heat from hell, since we have already reached the number of 100+ degree (F) days in Dallas that we typically reach in a year and we are barely into July. :(

Hang in there!

Can we keep this to how @dseag2 is doing? There are only sixty gazillion other threads in which you guys can argue.
Awww, thank you! I actually just responded to Hollydolly's thread. We can close the conversation about me. I still have some minor leftover congestion, no coughing, no fever and went back to the gym today. So, I was basically over this latest strain of Covid within 5 days.
