Every woman's body is beach ready

Thankfully, and maybe also lucky, I have never had a weight problem. However, there is one thing that I have often wondered. I am 6’4” and right now, I weigh 195 pounds. If someone is 5’10” and does not workout to build muscle and also weighs 195 pounds, they probably will be heavy. Thinking about the comparison, it seems to me that the taller a person has an advantage when it comes to eating. They should be able to eat more without having to worry about being obese, unless they go overboard with eating.

My neighbor told me that he is 5’8” and weighs 150 pounds, does not work out and looks good. If I weighed 150 pounds, I would probably look like a twig. I once saw a “Garfield the Cat” cartoon where he says he’s not fat, he’s just too short. When I was in high school and in health class we would talk about height to weight being compatible, which can also give a person their BMI.

This is going to sound dumb, but this seems unfair that the taller person can eat more, or is my thinking skewed?

Some short , even petite, persons eat a ton a day, or are eating constantly , and don't gain any weight for decades.

Yes, everyone's thinking is skewed.

Absolutely unfair!! But mother nature is not known for fairness.

Yes, generally, taller people can and should eat more and weigh more.

You are lucky, but all of us are in some way when it comes to our health, elsewise we wouldn't have lived to read this.

Yeah, mine closes at 10PM., too, I know they used to be open 24 hrs. I don't like Wally World, so I don't shop there. Are they still open all day in big cities?
Well, this is only a tiny city, but I think the WM was open 24/7 til covid hit, then started closing for the night around 10 p.m.
It wasn't too many years ago I'd occasionally walk there at 3 or 4 a.m. if I needed anything and the convenience store was closed.

The granny picture above looks just fine. Everyone does have the right to the beach. I'd wear something more conservative than shown in that article but that's just me. Anyone who doesn't like any of it though doesn't have any right to bother those people on the beach with less or more than standard body types.

Synchronistcally stumbled on this elsewhere. Seems relevant to this thread. Like most of what i consider the best kind of humor it has a lot of truth to it.

Thank you for posting this! It's one of the best music videos I've seen - Awesome message to girls of all ages!

Look at sentence i made bold...in reality there's a couple of factors which will make the shorter person appear heavier. The volume filled by a pound of muscle is smaller than a pound of fat. So firstly, on a taller frame the bulk, whether muscle or fat, is distributed over a larger area on the vertical axis.

Secondly, even moderate fitness level would mean less 'bulk' and 'jiggle' so a short fit person (not over developed competitve body builder type) would actually take up less room, as well as look trimmer/smaller at same weight as a short unfit person.

How much a person can eat without having excess fat is dependent on metabolism and activity levels. Those charts saying how many calories burned by an activity do not factor in metabolism. Someone with high metabolic rate could burn more calories off faster doing same activity as a person with slower metabolism and so not accumulate as much weight as person with slower system.

So as with so many body issues one has to learn one's own body and what works for you.

For the majority of men, I have noticed the shorter a person is and the more they weigh is not usually good. We all know that there are charts that show that a person’s weight should be proportionate to his height. Muscle has weight, so a shorter man that is buff may weigh more than someone taller, yet is trim. My nephew who is a workout fanatic is 5’10” and according to the graph should weigh in at 160#. He told me his weight fluctuates between175-180, yet looks great.

I agree that height to weight proportion is not a one size fits all. Weight depends on different factors as you have mentioned. However, generally speaking, I also agree that the majority of men may want to at least stay within a range to be healthy. Here is a chart that I found that compares close to the one I have pinned to the wall in my workout area.

Dang your chart! Over the last few years, I've gone from 5' under 100 lbs to (ahem) the high end of your chart! The weight gain is not evenly distributed, which makes things worse. I'm not going to the beach in a bikini, in other words - but I'll go in a flouncy, princess-style two piece suit.

One note: I've also been shrinking in height (probably two inches) and I have the bone structure of a bird. Bone structure has a lot to do with 'appearance,' in my opinion. On another note, muscle tissue weighs more than fat tissue, so fitness and musculature might reflect badly on the scale - but that's great!

Regardless, I think everyone should enjoy a beach in whatever they are comfortable wearing!

I hereby deny ownership of the chart. No, really, I only posted it as a guide. If I have upset you, I apologize.

Something occurred to me... with all the 'self-help, self-improvement, self-this self-that' pressuring people to never be satisfied with anything about themselves (or others), why is it when the subject of weight comes up it's taken like some kind of personal attack?

Personally, I'm less concerned about anybody's physical appearance than the fact that excess weight can result in numerous serious health issues and may even shorten a person's lifespan.

If I weighed 133 lbs I'd be bouncing around like a beach ball.

I believe info someone- I think it was Knight- posted awhile back with the BMI chart was more relevant.
