In a shocking act caught on camera in a Hair salon in Turkmenistan.. a husband is filmed punching and kicking his wife...HARD

The brutality comes as a new environment of female oppression takes hold in the authoritarian ex-Soviet state Turkmenistan. Husbands can be fined if their wives receive certain beauty or cosmetic treatments.

The Turkmen government has increased control over women’s rights since new President Serdar Berdymukhammedov came to power in March, succeeding his father, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, with 73 per cent of the vote in an election that international observers said was neither free nor fair.

Seriously I just want to reach in and punch his lights out.. I'm so angry for her..

Now women are pressured to wear traditional Turkmen dress, and a ban has been imposed on padded bras.

A decree was issued banning women from occupying the front seats in cars, say reports.

Driving licenses for female citizens of the country have not been issued for several years - although there has not yet been an official ban, it is claimed.

The fines for women visiting beauty parlours can be imposed on their husbands or fathers, amounting to several monthly salary payments.

We’ve squandered enormous amounts of blood and treasure trying to impose our way of life on others without much success.

I’m not sure what we can do other than provide support to those that seek a different form of religion or government that allows more freedom and basic human rights.

Very sad.

It’s difficult to believe that life in this country wasn’t much different.

A time when slavery was legal and a man’s wife and children were considered property.

It seems that meaningful change and growth has to come slowly and painfully from within a society.

Even then there will be setbacks like the recent decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.

You're so right. It is easy for us to express shock/horror at such treatment, but European women were regarded as chattels just a short time ago. A husband was permitted to treat his wife in any way he pleased.

My grandmother’s sister was killed by her violent husband. He used a pitchfork. Family hushed it up. Previously, her family begged her to leave him and come “home.” She refused, as she would have been forced to leave her children behind.

A difference, though, is in our country people have a voice.. and generally don't need to worry about being executed for speaking out.

No matter how abhorrent "we" think this may be, or what the law enforcement may choose to enforce ....... What other countries do ..... like it or not, is up to them ... it is after all, their country.

"A husband was permitted to treat his wife in any way he pleased."

And IMO the primary reason that changed ... is money. In the form of business dealings/ contracts . IOW if the businesses wanted American business & partnerships ? Then they pretty much had to comply with our human right standards .

Similar things happening in Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Under such oppression and total control, it's extremely difficult for women in those countries to fight back. To do so could end their lives. Women are property. The men who rule have no respect for them in any way and have a tremendous fear of and hatred of women.
I can't even say what I want to do to those men!
Thankfully, living in relatively civilized countries, we don't have to deal with the horrors inflicted upon those women. I can tell you this, if a man ever puts his hands on me in anger, he'd better take his best shot because he won't get another one.

Bella ✌️

Which unfortunately & [likely] will see you .... arrested, prosecuted, and incarcerated . Which while it may not be painful to live with ..... it very likely end your way of living. It is a vicious cycle.

I know something about this, as i witnessed my own mother go through it.

Truth of the matter is ..., Man has always been & will like continue to be the dominant in the relationship. Now, the male can be the dominant , whithout violence .... but that needs to be taught.

IMO, creating P/whipped man bunned, man bag carrying, mr. moms who mop the floors, while wife mows the lawn, and or does the driving on family outtings ... as depicted on TV... is not the way to do it.

I mean ..... 5'2 100 pound women taking on 6'2 250 pound men .... and knocking them out in one punch ? or throwing them across a room, as on some TV cop shows ? is pure fantasy ....... But if that is how they are portrayed ? that is how they will act. And that is what gets them into trouble.

It is sad, certainly makes me glad I live here. We may not be perfect, but in comparison we look pretty good.

Also sad but true, hard for us to do much about it.

Yep, probably worse in Saudi than Iran. Our good friends the Saudis!

What's acceptable in the culture you come from may not be acceptable when you move to a different country & culture. That must be understood when people decide to immigrate to a foreign country. Unfortunately, some can not push aside these deep seeded beliefs.

Resulted in the deaths of 3 daughters and a mans X-wife some years ago near Kingston, Ontario Canada. Family was originally from Afghanistan, living briefly in Dubai before moving to Montreal, Quebec. It was reported later during sentencing that the father & brother were displeased with the the way the daughters were dressing & acting in their social lives and believed the daughters were bringing dishonor to the family. Not sure how the man's first wife ended up in the car that was used to kill the daughters.

I remember this .. sad situation.

About 5 years ago, I was in Target buying some shaving needs. I had just turned the corner to go into the shaving needs aisle when I saw this man about 25 years old slap his wife (?) across the back of her head. I heard her say ouch. He looked right at me, so I told him that maybe he would like to slap me. He told his wife he would meet her at the checkout and quickly left. I asked her if she was ok and she said yes and thanked me. I watched them until they got in their truck and drove away.

lots of reports of Indian/Pakistani men killing their daughters for not obeying the fathers' wishes not to be westernised or not marrying the man that's chosen for them... but if they choose to relocate their families to a Western country..then they MUST live within our laws..

Sad to say, he probably beat the crap out of her when they got home.:mad:

Exactly ! Our culture , our way is entirely different from many others around the world. In their opinion, [our] way will never work in their society ..... and they really do not care to even listen to our way. Unless compliance will bring them ....💰
