Disk Golf

The town we moved to a year ago has this program for all ages from 5 - 100... It's a game called Disk Golf... Have any of you heard or tried it...They say most towns and cities have a course for Disk Golf... The way I understand it's just like golf, but instead of a club and a ball, you use a frisbee... and there is 18 baskets rather than holes. Thinking of maybe trying it out next summer. Here is Brockville, Ontario they play year-round, but I am not a huge winter fan...

But I will add some info that I have found about this growing game. There are pros and tournaments. It's a lot bigger than I am making it sound here...

So if anyone already plays, maybe you can tell us about it here... Sounds like a great way to keep or get in shape, and a great way to get out and see nature...

Disc Golf

Anyways have a gander and see what you think... I've played golf before, but not this type of golf, and am seriously thinking about it...

It's popular where I live . Many parks in the area have Disc Courses set up and they are always crowded when the weather is nice. I've played a few times but more just to be outdoors as opposed to doing playing it competitively

That's cool Buddy, like I said I am just looking into it and maybe trying it for the first time next summer... Does it take huge energy...and the reason I ask, is I suffer from Chronic Pain... I play regular golf... and usually for a day or 2 after playing... I don't get off the couch or out of bed... unless I pop lots of narcotics... So... is it hard on the body? The only thing I see so far is a lot of walking... and maybe your arm getting tired... I'm still going to try it, I'm just wondering if it's as physical as golf... Thanks for your input on this thread...

Walking is the most physical part. The courses here seem to be a little shorter then an executive golf course is. If you can handle a walk in a short golf course then you'll be fine. Shoulder might hurt a little at first if you are not used to the motion of flipping the disc but nothing major. It's a nice mild activity to go outdoors

I haven't played it because there are no disc golf courses that I've seen but I did see it played in a horror movie once.

Yes, I have played it a few times. The Municipal Park in Columbia, Mo. has a course. First and foremost, be sure you will not hurt your arm on the "drive". :) You need to know how to throw a frisbee ( you need to get a good one if your serious...they have them at your sports store ). Then your second shot you try to get close enough to the basket to make a birdie so the rest of the hole is based on accuracy. The basket's work good but sometimes, like golf, it pops out of the target. :) I loved it. The course is as long as you want it to be for recreational purposes. They do have leagues you can enter if you want to be in competitions. You have me interested in doing it now. Thanks!
