My wife monitors my spending but that's ok because she keeps my spending in tact. However, I mentioned to my wife I plan to buy tart cherry capsules for arthritis and joint pain. Inn the morning we plan to shop at nearby town and my wife wanted me to look.for tact cherry capsules while there. First of all I don't I buy tart cherry supplements. Ended up buying what I wanted on Amazon like I planned to do in the first place. This was an example of my wife attempting to control and direct in the manner she wanted.
She asked if I bought the item already online my reply was yes.

As long as you made up afterwards all is well, (though your point on "controlling behaviour" is well made). :)
 
I see I am outnumbered by the ladies, however, to make a fair assessment you will need to examine my point of view, my wife's point of view and our relationship to each other. Perhaps if I gave you her contact information you can discuss the information with her directly?
 
I had a disagreement with my late MIL about our traveling. Apparently she and her husband were at a medical convention when a close family member died. The person had to be kept on ice until they returned.
My late wife and I were traveling quite a bit, and I was told by her we should not travel until she died. I basically told her that she was not going to dictate our travel plans.
When she finally died, I showed my wife the list of trips we would have missed out on had we listened to her.

"What do you think you're doing?" asks the wife.
"They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans," he replies.
"Put them back, we can't afford them," demands the wife. They carry on shopping.
A few aisles further on, the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.
"What do you think you're doing?" asks the husband.
"It's my face cream. It makes me look beautiful," replies the wife.
Her husband replies, "So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it's half the price."

How was the funeral?
 
My wife and I get along good and it is with our compatibility I joke about our relationship. The information I share about my life is done so in heathy regard of being human. Life is a joke and everyone at point in life gets to play the punchline.

Do the Tart Cherry capsules help with joint pain? How long have you been taking them? I may need to search for some.

You need to be aware of the unwritten law that women can say what they want about men, but men are not afforded that same privilege.

Maybe the hassle could have been avoided altogether? When she advises you to look for something, why not just say you plan to buy it from Amazon.

Reading your post & taking an unbiased view it seems to me it isn't a control issue, but more about caring.

Feeling like you're "treading on egg shells" is no good in any relationship is it, (Churchill did say something about what you should do if you've something controversial to say didn't he, quote:
"If you have a point to make, dont try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time,...., a tremendous whack"!
