At least 10 people have been killed and 15 injured in a series of stabbing attacks in Saskatchewan

From the beginning reports said Myles had been injured, but it was Damien's body found in the tall grass near the crime site.

I still think Myles was injured but not as badly as his brother and may himself be laying dead somewhere by now.

I saw a report in which the Chief said this was all about drugs.

I was shocked to hear about this when it broke on our news. Canada always seems such a peaceful place and generally no crime reported in this manner. It all seems so violent and I really feel for the victims and their families. It must have been terrifying for all concerned.

Just goes to show when people are seriously disturbed they will kill and maim each other with whatever weapon is at hand. It doesn't have to be a gun.
Yes, but as someone stated in an earlier post, to kill with a knife takes physical effort and time. That provides other potential victims some time to escape.

An AR 15 with a large clip can take many more lives in a much shorter time frame. That is why there are many more massacres by semiautomatic firearms than there are by knife or tomahawk.

Unfortunately Canada altho' not on the scale of the USA has as much crime as anywhere else..especially in the cities.. where for example Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto.. just as we have here.. and along with that comes Crime

You are quite wrong about "Crime in Canada , especially on First Nations Reserves " As a group, the First Nations people have the following statistics. They have the highest number of children, per husband and wife ( about 4 times the number of children in other households ) the highest number of children taken away by the Child Protection agencies. The highest rate of sexually transmitted disease in Canada, the highest number of drug addicted people, the highest number of alcoholics, the highest number of people in prison, compared to their total population which is only 5 percent of the total population of Canada. In some of the western Provinces , First Nations people make up 50 percent of the prison population. The First Nations across Canada have the highest number of homicides, per 1000 people in the population. The Federal Government keeps pouring BILLIONS of dollars EACH YEAR into First Nations communities, with little to no accounting about how the Chiefs and the band councils actually SPEND the money. On any First Nation, the nicest house, with the $85,000 pick up truck parked in the driveway, will belong to the Chief. And his or her family will certainly also benefit from their relation to " The Boss'. Meanwhile, the other people on the reserve who are not related to the Chief, will be living in a shack. JimB.

They certainly are overachievers.

The RCMP has released the names of the people killed in Saskatchewan. Of the ten people, 6 have the last name Burns, and 2 others have the last name of Head. Not a coincidence. Revenge seems to be the most likely motive in this case. One brother is still at large as of today September 7, 2022. The dead brother was found lying in tall grass about 50 yards away from a house where a number of people were stabbed. It appears that he died of stab wounds, possibly inflicted by those he was attacking. JimB.

I'm not surprised at all! We have cannabis shops on every street. Lots of crazies around where I live. Yesterday I was nearly killed on a fast highway when one of those crazy drivers was passing a vehicle and coming straight for me on my lane. I had to hit the gravel side to escape instant death. Driver must have been stoned or starring at his phone which they usually keep between their legs. So eyes are looking down rather than the road when they travel at speeds of 110 km. I'm from Canada; a land that is teeming with crazies all over and they "have their rights." I'm normal so I really don't have many rights. I just try to evade all the crazies around me.

You should hear the traffic here. All the young crazies have expensive modified mufflers and boy, do they love to step on the gas and listen to the roar coming from those mufflers.

Maybe that is why so many people are leaving this BIG city and they are heading out to live in small towns.

Not true! Many Canadians have developed "mental problems" stemming from those "glorious" restrictions placed on their freedom for the last 2 years; thanks to Covid 19 or whatever you call it today. Perhaps, pandemic will do! The country is more divided then I have ever seen it since Quebec wanted separation.

I apologise if I offended or upset anyone in my previous post. I was genuinely shocked to hear about this and when I said Canada always seems such a peaceful place and generally no crime reported in this manner, I meant that I haven't personally heard much on our news about crime in Canada and had no idea about the First Nation issues at all, so stand corrected.

I am glad and relieved the authorities have caught the alleged killer.

And an AR 15 (or any firearm) can also be used to stop a massacre.......provided citizenry are permitted access to firearms.
That's why AR 15's are what police use - just about everywhere, including Canada.

Yes, a high-capacity assault rifle like an AR 15 CAN kill several people quickly. And, in these situations with multiple assailants, I'm glad it can.

I wouldn't know about that @win231. We haven't had a massacre on the scale that we see in US since 1996 when a deranged young man went on a killing spree at Port Arthur. After that national gun legislation was introduced in Australia.

But you know all about that. I've said it before.
We are happy with our situation; you are happy with yours.

Sadly, all your words are true and accurate.

The second and final man wanted in a grisly stabbing spree on an indigenous reservation in Canada has died in an apparent suicide shortly after his arrest ended a massive four-day manhunt.

Myles Sanderson, 30, died of self-inflicted injuries soon after being taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon near Rosthern, Saskatchewan, officials said.

Sanderson surrendered to police and was taken away alive in an ambulance after a highway pursuit in which police rammed his vehicle, a stolen pickup truck, off the road, according to an official familiar with the matter.

The official said the fugitive's fatal injuries were self-inflicted, but he didn't have further details on whether the injuries were inflicted while police moved in on his disabled vehicle to take him into custody, or after the arrest. Time of death was also not immediately clear.

That is sad, and unfortunately too much like the situation for some of our Native Americans in the US.

Can't say I fully understand why, but a lot of our Native Americans have not faired well. Not true of all of them, last night had dinner with an old friend and her husband. She is Lakota Sioux and doing fine living in Florida the last 50 years. However, some of her family back on the res are not so fortunate.

The second Sanderson brother has been arrested by the RCMP. The vehicle he was driving was forced off the road, and he was taken out of the vehicle and handcuffed by Police. Shortly afterward, he was seen to be suffering from self inflicted wounds. A local EMS Ambulance transported him to a hospital in Regina, where he was declared dead. So ends the pursuit , but now begins the investigation into the deaths, and the cause of this tragedy. The National Parole Board of Canada will be under a very hot spotlight, to answer why the killer was granted parole time and again over his 22 year criminal career. JimB.

Exactly where they should be. Nothing so extensive as this, but there are many other cases of a released killer being released and repeating the crime. One I knew was particularly heartbreaking. The Parole board had been warned by his previous victims. It didn’t help the next woman he murdered.

He was probably granted parole again & again for the same reason criminals are granted parole here in the U.S. To cut costs of inmate upkeep. Inmates have to be housed, fed, & also get medical & dental care.
