Zombie Ice from Greenland

The earth is ever changing ....... just look at volcanoes. Hawaii, Iceland, etc.

Mankind has little to nothing to do with it .

I read in Nat/Geo not long ago about the island of Midway ...... At one time [70-80] years ago a strategic piece of realestate that we fought Japan over, because it was vital to our military position & strength ........ Now it is almost gone .... consumed by the sea.

If it is destined to be , by nature ...... there is nothing we can do about it.

The air did not become so polluted thru natural processes, tho there are natural processes that can contaminate the air temporarily over small areas and some of the toxins carried on wind--but that very process dilutes any single natural source (like eruping volcano) contaminant.

You have only to compare pre and mid pandemic photos of major cities for practical examples of how much we've impacted our air
But our use of things that contaminate our air is so common around the world that it overwhelms the natural cleansing process.

What is more pollutants have made untreated rainwater unsafe to drink. The tipping point came in our lifetimes. When i was a kid in Florida it was safe.

this.fruits and veggies should be washed before eating because unless those organic ones were grown in a sealed green house with airlocks and filters on air drawn in contamination is possible.

We, as a species, are not blameless in all this.

I never said we were 'blameless' .... I said we had little to no effect on it all. I read once that all of mankind could fit in [ I believe it was]Jcksonville, Fla ... and still maintain our three feet of personal space ! Now do I know if that is exactly true ? No. ....but my point is , just think about how miniscule were are , compared to the vastness of space available on earth. And the atmosphere that surrounds us .

"The air did not become so polluted thru natural processes,"

IMO it has ... because using the earth is a natural process. Do we do it perfectly ? and efficently ? Likely not , but we must continue to use it , or revert back to way's I don't want to even think about.

This just another example of total climate nonsense. I can look at a graph of geological history such as:

This that shows clearly we are currently in one of the coldest periods in the geologic history of planet earth. And that for most of it's geologic history the earth was much warmer than it is now and life not only survived but thrived. For example:

The Eocene Optimum of 65 million years ago when ave temperatures world-wide were 2x what they are now, and when there was zero ice anywhere on the planet. Life not only thrived but spread in profusion to every place on the surface of the earth.

I can also look at the temperature history of the late Pleistocene Epoch. We fortunately live in the latest Pleistocene Glacial Minimum which we term the Holocene. The previous glacial minimum, termed the Eemian, was as much as 2+ degrees C higher than the Holocene Optimum. In all the several Pleistocene 'glacial minima' there remained extensive ice on the planet, as now at both poles and higher elevations. That's the dead giveaway that we're still very much 'in the Pleistocene' and earth's orbital geometry dictates that the planet will remain in the Pleistocene for millions more years. And experience periodic glacial minimal at 100-120 k year intervals.

I can look at the temperature history of the Holocene and see very clearly that overall temperatures have been declining for 8 k years. I can compare the Holocene to previous glacial minima and see clearly that they last on average 12-15 k years. We are now 10+ k years into the Holocene. We can expect it's demise within a couple thousand years or so.

Instead of getting into hysterics about nonsense like C02, which is plant food not pollution, we had better start preparing ourselves for the next glacial max. That's going to be some real climate change.

The earth has always had climate changes but at no time in history have humans polluted it like now. The current warming is likely due to both but it's hard even for experts to tease out how much is due to one or the other.

I fear microplastics at this point more than climate. Human organs and plant capillary systems can't evolve fast enough to accommodate internal plastic accumulation.

"The earth has always had climate changes but at no time in history have humans polluted it like now. The current warming is likely due to both"

That's because man has really not been arond all that long ..... by comparison.

The use of the earth has evolved with technology ...... is it better to have horses pooping all over the place ? And/or to live in total darkness after sundown ?

There is no warming.

I agree people should not throw plastic and such around like they do ...... but the minute stricter punishment/tighter restriction regulation is suggested ........ the more folks scream, oh that's too harsh. Or oh , that will cost too much. So like in so many things ...... careful what ya wish for.

Various countries will feel the impact of water level rise, how much & best guess would be nice to know. Don't know but would like to know if the shift in mass weight will affect the rotation of earth. That Greenland Ice Sheet would still lose about 110 trillion tons of ice,
That's a great observation. I was wondering if the loss of glaciers' weight would cause uplifting of the land.
