National Great American Pot Pie Day - September 23rd

Well, I just got back from my local Save-A-Lot, and I got 2 pot pies. Not the old beef, chicken, turkey kind. Banquet had introduced 2 newer types of pot pies: Sausage and Gravy Deep Dish (which I had several years ago), and Deep Dish Cheesy Ham & Potato. 3 things that I love in the title. I was going to get chicken, but it had all of those cooked vegetables in it. I have always hated peas. I have always loved my veggies raw and not cooked, with the exception of potatoes and corn.

In my Canadian youth, pot pies were unknown. At age 19 or 20, I visited a family in Harrisburg, PA. The mother said something about a pot pie. I asked what that was, and she said, "You make a stew, and you put the pie dough on top." I imagined a stew pot with wet pie dough floating in it.
 
While I was baching it, I must have ate hundreds of these things. Always liked them. That was long time ago. :)

Oh! Yes...grew up with them...my Mom made THE BEST...(homemade)
chicken with loads of veggies...it was a standard weekly dinner.
haven't had for awhile..
and the bought ones have way-too-much-salt...so don't.
