Ripe for pies...

A pumpkin doesn't have to be completely orange to be ripe.

It's ripe when it sounds hollow when tapped.

Other signs of ripeness...include a hard stem and skin.

Who makes pumpkin pies?

Who likes pumpkin anything?

My daughter makes a pumpkin roll..instead! D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!

I love pumpkin. I'm not too crazy about all the pumpkin flavored stuff. I tried the pumpkin oat milk from Trader Joe's. Didn't like it much.

I've made pumpkin pie. I've made pumpkin bread that is egg and dairy free but if I make it again I need to adjust it to use granulated sugar. It's ridiculous to use pure maple syrup. That's too expensive.

Sometimes I get a can of prepared pumpkin - a lot easier than trying to do it from scratch. Sometimes I just eat it plain with a little salt & pepper - same botanical family as squash. However, if I have a choice of pumpkin or apple pie - I will usually go for the apple.

I'm not crazy about pumpkin flavored anything. I will have a slice of pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving but that's enough. However, I do like pumpkin bread.

Family tradition..when 'kids' where young.. bought large pumpkin...at the farmers market..they got to pick it out...
DH & daugher responsible for 'scooping out' and we baked the seeds..
we all enjoyed

Kids carved, I baked a couple pies! Oh! yeah!🤗

I don't like eating pumpkin. As a kid I got real sick once after eating a lot of pumpkin pie and vanilla ice cream. Probably had nothing to do with what I ate, but that memory comes back whenever I smell or taste either.

I do like a good jack-o-lantern, pumpkins make good porch decoration.

There is a pumpkin field about 50 feet from where I sit right now, and the farmer basically gives us all we want, and still ends up plowing a lot in at the end of the season. Seems he usually grows more than he can sell.

I make loaves of pumpkin bread every Fall ... although, when I leave loaves for my two younger granddaughters, they have always thanked me for the Gingerbread.
..... I put a lot of spices in it (nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and ginger ... maybe too much ginger? 😀

Do you still carve them?

As long as they enjoy it. :)
