What will you never economise on...?

My wardrobe of made to measure clothes, my collection of Hawaiian shirts, my shoes, hats. My vintage MG.
But, they are just my foibles, as long as the lady who said yes when I proposed all those years ago, is by my side until journey's end, that's all I ask for.
Ahem, do you remember the actor, Paul Freeman? He played the part of Dr. Rene Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

My tailor is making me a similar suit of that era.

The safari suit is popularly associated with Australian fashion in the 1970's. At various functions I have seen what I believe to be safari jackets of the 1930's. They are popular with re-enactors.

Not that it matters, if I like a style I will wear it but I am certainly not a button counter nor a rigid follower of how it should be,

No I wasn't inferring that you should wear it any given situation,... just trying to put a name to the style.. :)

Maybe that is what I need to do, I used to have my hair and nails done. When Covid hit I stopped doing that. I only had my hair colored in the salon for special occasions but it was always prettier than my in home color.
Funny thing is my DIL changed professions, she was in the financial industry but went to cosmotology school about 2 years ago. She is now licensed and she loves it. I am hesitant to ask her to cut or color mine. I think she worries if she did my hair and I did not like I would be upset. No, I would not, but I do not want to make her uncomfortable. Maybe later when she is more comfortable in her new profession.

  • Maintenance on our cars and house.
  • Food Quality. I still buy pre-prepared food from places like Whole Foods because I am not a good cook.
  • Medical and Dental Care.
  • Some type of TV service, be it Satellite or Streaming.
  • Internet.
  • Cell Phone service.
  • Gym Membership.

Recently found the greatest brand of candle ever. Expensive but, oh, so worth it!🕯
We've started our own conversation, but Whole Foods carries Calyan candles. We were buying Nest at Nordstrom at a ridiculous price and I came across Calyan. The scent permeates the entire area. They are great!

No problem Holly, you always have a consideration before you post, by re-reading everything before clicking the reply. But thank you anyway for explaining and preventing any ambiguity. Much appreciated.
I keep getting things from the financial community to "GO PAPERLESS".
That might leave you in the proverbial!

I used to say I would never give up my cable and a hairdresser to color my hair but both are gone along with many other things. But I was able to find substitutes for some that were much cheaper. I now share YouTube tv with a friend that only costs 32 instead of 150. My friend colors my hair.

Actually I had to make a ton of changes to my budget so that I wasn’t in the red. I am saving my savings for real emergencies like home and car repairs. I would never give up my dogs or providing good quality care which is one reason I have pet insurance.

I never scrimp on food, and have always bought real butter. I was a kid when my grandma would occasionally take me to a restaurant, and any rolls or buns would come with real butter that my grandma hated because they didn't have refrigeration when she was young and the butter would go rancid. She fell in love with margarine as soon as it became available. I vowed in my head that when I grew up it was always have butter, and I have always had butter.

I agree with @hollydolly ^ self-care is something I will always try to afford - good haircut and skin care make a lot of difference and really good for your self-esteem. £32 is an unbelievable bargain!

When I was a kid my parents and everyone called it 'real Butter''.. and the other was Margarine... now I never hear anyone call it that.. it's just butter or Low fat spread...

Tish I had it done at a Discount Salon... they work on price budget, that everything is £16... so if we're having something basic like a cut and blow dry .. it's £16 per item... and that works out cheaper than other salons ... however if we were to have more ..then it's another £16 for each and every procedure.. and that can be expensive ..

You remind me of a Brit in some of the older British films that I have seen. That's a compliment. I think you look very stylish. You must spend a fortune on clothes. I shouldn't talk because I do the same.
