The first time I came on the forum, I didn't do an introduction. I just started posting. I'm not really comfortable with them

I didn't know about people here having more than one account and posting as more than one person. That's interesting.
I didn't either.
I thought Matrix would of found them out..

I have a question about the IP address stuff. So, what if 10 family members lived in the same house and used the same computer for the same forum and had 10 different accounts. Would that throw a monkey wrench in the pot? You know I wonder what if all 10 family members used the same account on the same computer on the same forum. Man, that would be quite something. Ha-ha-ha
for the purposes of this forum I think if 10 people in the same household were over 50.. we might be looking at an Appalachian family of ''cousins''.. :sneaky::LOL:

I just started posting, too. I've been on enough message boards to see how these introduction threads cause a few nice people to have to welcome them, and then the majority never post again.

Besides, I couldn't really think of anything to say to introduce myself that wouldn't be either too much information for the internet or just boring generic stuff.

So I jumped right in the deep-end and before long everybody knew more about me than they ever wanted to.

I can see the advantage of a sock puppet who would always agree with me!

Yes, and that would be me. I am mostly from Great Brittan then Scottish then Irish then Dutch from Ancestory.com DNA test that I had done. Every few years I get an update and the results change about a little bit.
Does it tell you , you have South African DNA?.. only asking because if it shows Dutch.. then the Dutch were one of the first settlers in South Africa

(Does it tell you , you have South African DNA?.. only asking because if it shows Dutch.. then the Dutch were one of the first settlers in South Africa )-------- My answer- I have not had South African in my DNA but in the past, I have had the Iberian (Pinicula?) Land and Caucasias Region which are removed now.

I have been curious also because on a forum I used to be on there were instances of people having two or three, I don't know what to call it now, like having three different personalities on a forum. I have kind of wondered about this on this forum.
Years ago, I swear there were these "two" members, who used to be snarky with each other. They would get into "post wars", but they sounded so alike, you really wondered if it was just one person.

BTW, how do we know we got new members?

Fuzz, on the front page, look to the right hand side and scroll down to Forum Statistics and you'll see "Latest Member".

Sock puppets often post on threads with political or social issues in order to appear like multiple members share the same view, ganging up against alternative positions. There are many people that tend to post in terms of what a majority believe just like during elections they choose sides depending on what is popular while being afraid to post on anything where their views are against the popular grain. Such people also are likely to stroke their alter member's posts or be critical of those against what their alter member posts. On an anti-political posting board like this, one can expect they will work to change that limitation, seeing how far they can push moderators. All post smartphone social media sites are a hot bed of sock puppets and bots. Such sites have reasons not to delete such accounts since that equates to ad revenue. Before web news sites began eliminating commenting on stories, large numbers of sock puppets would comment usually with one liner's bashing who they hated with derisive nicknames.
