Digging around on his property in Wales, this guy finds a whole house buried there

He writes:
"I've been digging up the ruins of an old house buried on a piece of land I own in Wales, UK. The house dates back to at least 1839 based on local maps, but is probably 200-300+ years old. This is a time-lapse of the first couple of months of excavating and what I have uncovered so far; a kitchen fireplace. The rest of the dig will be in other videos."

Man, that'd be so cool!

Nice find Murrmurr, it is usually small things that get buried.

I wonder why a whole house has been, maybe because of a
serious illness that took the family at the same time, but it
is probably something else, like a fire that destroyed it, he
should check with the local churches, they keep diaries of
things that happened back in time.

Intriguing.

Mike.

It seems everything gets buried over a long period of time. I wonder what the process is. Is it covering or sinking?

I wonder if this bloke is for hire, he'd renovate my garden in 30 seconds. 😊

That's something like I've always wondered. When I got the deed to my one and a 1/3 acres, I wondered, who called that home, way in the past. I'm in the US, so an Indian probably had his home here? Or I could be the first human to make it a home? I believe my area was entirely clear cut in the 1800s, and was a blueberry farm, until it was wiped out by a forest fire,

Illness - good one. I hadn't thought of that. I'm gonna look up plagues in Wales in the 1800s.

He looks like a fairly young guy, so I hope he knows to check church records; it's a good idea.

I had the same questions bc this seems deliberate. Maybe the terrain had to be leveled for new(er) buildings, maybe the area tended to flood or began to flood bc a river or stream was redirected. I hope the guy finds out.

You have to be careful in old buildings over here, because
of contamination that might damage your health.

In the 1990s, I did a refurbishment job in Wandsworth Prison
in London, a whole wing was closed and everything was renewed,
I got the boiler house to re-wire, any drilling or any scraping paint,
was not allowed, somebody had to clean the place with high pressure
water and disinfectant, somebody else burned the paint off walls and
another would drill holes where I needed them, these men were dressed
Like Astronauts, including oxygen bottles with breathers, just like a diver.

Still a place buried for 100+ years should be OK by now, even radiation
disappears after a time.

Thank you for all your nice comments and for those of you who subscribed. Too many questions to answer here in detail, but I will be doing a walkthrough video and explaining what I know about the building and showing what I've uncovered in more detail; some interesting thoughts from many of you. I will try to answer all the main questions in that video. In terms of parts 2+ of timelapse showing more progress, they will be along as quick as I can manage.
I think some people assumed I had already done the whole dig and could release the videos straight away, but not so I'm afraid. It will take me time to do the work. I also had no idea this was going to take off the way it did so I am currently on a holiday I booked to Croatia on the Adriatic. Progress has therefore stalled.
