Some people need air conditioners even in cool weather

On my rambles through my new neighborhood, I was surprised on some mornings when the temp is in the 50s that some houses still have a window air conditioner running. I can only surmise that perhaps a person that lives there has a respiratory condition that necessitates it.

Do window AC's have reverse air ?

What's the temp inside the house? Maybe quite warm or humid inside. Also, could be with the air running, the white noise will mask outside noise if that's a problem.

Mine was on when it did not need to be earlier today to drown out the idiot noise from next door. Then when the idiot went for his daily afternoon siesta I decided to pound out some chicken breasts.....makes a lovely noise.
Whatever happened with their sitting & eavesdropping under your window? Colder weather?

I know an undertaker who runs his AC early in the spring until very late in the fall. He also keeps the curtains totally closed. Maybe he’s just used to these conditions at his work.

(It’s not a heat pump).

My window air conditioner is right by my bed. It is about 75 in the afternoon, and it is a little warm in the house. I turn it on until I go to bed. Turn it off, plug in my homemade white noise machine, and sleep till about 3am, now the room is cool and the covers are tightly wrapped around me. Soon I will cover the air conditioner with a plastic sheet, and then warm blanket. I think it takes awhile for the "house" to adjust to these changing warm to cold days.

I have my air conditioner running right now. 57 degrees outside but the sun beats down on my windows for hours. My building is brick and I am sandwiched between other apartments on four sides. That is why I won't let them take my air conditioner out for the winter.
