Book of Life

Be what you is not what you what you ain’t

I read the handbook and found no indication stating life is fair. Therefore I propose an amendment for the Book of Life to take into account the delicate balance of the human condition in matters of financial security, homelessness, illness, incarceration, dysfunctional parents and or family members, literacy, and just plain stupidity. on a comparison scale equal action and deliverance. Meaning the negative and the positive aspects of life will be distributed equally. If you are healthy and take care of yourself you are required to share your health and wellness to someone less fortunate than you. The same is true in all life forms. This is the only way to ensure an equal and fair world.

Obviously life is not fair from a humanistic point of view. The problem with most of us is we think too small to take into account a bigger world or purpose than our immediate wants and needs. That's ok, because we were made to think of ourselves or who we choose to represent for survival of the species. I wish I understand life beyond earthly limitations.
Is life planned or is life random? Can life make a mistake? What criteria determines a mistake has been made in life? You've seen two-headed snakes, Siamese Twins conjoined to the same body? Did life make a mistake?

I feel mental illness cheated me out of a life I should have had. By the examples above, I was not cheated out of anything, nor in any way did life make a mistake in creating me. It is hard sometimes not to be angry or depressed about life. Just know this, whatever circumstance you faced or decision you made it was best you could do at the time, and let it go.

I love the series, Chicken Soup for the Soul! There is one on Positive Thinking and it has lots of positive, yet realistic examples. I found it at Wal Mart.

I wish, Ed. Most of us do.
I do too. I'm disappointed that as a species we have not achieved this level of enlightenment. When I was young I was sure life would be so much better for everyone by 2022. It's not. We seem to be moving backwards instead of forwards. 😥 You can't force people to care, I guess you can only set an example.

Easy enough to say, but being born black in Africa and spending your life in slavery in early America. Slavery formed a cornerstone of the British Empire in the 18th century. Every colony had enslaved people, from the southern rice plantations in Charles Town, South Carolina, to the northern wharves of Boston. Slavery was more than a labour system; it also influenced every aspect of colonial thought and culture.

Nor is being born Jewish in the early twentieth century Europe and becoming a victim of The Nazis propaganda my idea of making the best of it.

How about being born a Native American right here in "good ol America"? I have WORDS for the author of this particular book.

I think presentism is not a way to describe / define our forebears. You cannot judge people who lived long ago by today's standards.

Is life planned or is life random? Can life make a mistake? What criteria determines a mistake has been made in life?

An age-old discussion of whether life is planned or random; one that, ultimately, is not significant in the end, if one can balance personal reality upon the tightrope of acceptance, knowing we create our lives by what we assert and think, and that many mistakes, not all, are born from consequences of the choices we make.

Yet, this is not to imply that we aren’t part of a universal sandbox of particles that float in a predetermined fashion making up a larger celestial phenomenon, and range of motion, that plays out fixed paths through time and space resulting in daily events and collisions of both engaging and alarming realism on collective and individual basis. On the contrary; we create and destroy without inherent purpose in a similar fashion.

Yet, again, unimportant. All that matters is, as you say; “Just know this, whatever circumstance you faced or decision you made, it was best you could do at the time, and let it go.”

Whatever emerges, solidifies in our lives, the finest we can do is find and reveal the beauty within our universe and honor the fragility of our planet, of others, and ourselves. It’s okay knowing we “huddle together” in an indifferent universe, with vast differences full of suffering and happiness.

Yes, set an example. You would be greatly surprised, sometimes, how people think back on what happened or about what was said and how things went due to how someone handled a situation in a positive way rather than being negative and hateful towards it. Just be determined to be nice, positive, understanding, etc. People will remember that.
