Did You Jump Double Dutch When You Were Young?

YES. I lved in Brooklyn for about 9 months. I joined the girls in Double Dutch. :) It was hard and the girls had the biggest laugh. I was about 20 back then, and was pretty good at sports. So eventually I learned the game. Sometimes they would mess me up on purpose. :)

Wow...those young ladies are amazing too! I don't know how the one could stand to do it barefooted!! I would have loved to see you jumping Paco. We jumped using the both legs up and down method. I don't remember seeing anyone just jumping up and down like some of the footage here.

No
We couldn't afford it
Just single Dutch
...and it wasn't even Dutch
It was plain ol' Romanian
And it wasn't Jump Rope
It was jump rotted garden hose
Lucky to have that

I wasn't let in
So, I just watched Connie Ekert....and her holey underwear

Yes we jumped rope all the time when we were kids.. On the street in the school playground.. everywhere..

In Scotland.. turning the rope is called Cawing .. and sometimes we'd challenge ourselves and get the biggest washing line one of the mothers' would allow us to have.. and it would stretch out for a long way in the playground .. so it would take 2 cawers either end, to Caw the rope, and as many of us as possible would jump in one after the other .. sometimes we'd get 8 or 9 people jumping at once.. happy times..

Yes, we jumped Double Dutch. We were always outside playing when we weren't taking care of personal responsibilities, such as chores. Not only did we jump rope, but we also jumped on Pogo sticks and played hopscotch, Statues (red light, green light), and Simon Says. We ran, climbed, swam, and sledded. That was the extent of our "social network." We were always doing something physical.

The kids in the videos are more than just great jumpers, they're also dedicated competitive athletes.

Right! 🤗l

Just so you know, the pogo stick was first mentioned by @Bella. I can't own that one because I never did it but I seem to remember someone on our block using a pogo stick. 🙃
Thanks to @Bella , and you of course.

Pretty much unrelated I always like the comic strip Pogo, it appealed to a wide range of audience, kids to adults with its fun animals and subtle political satire.

sure did jump double dutch----another thing my sisters and i would find a soda can i bang our foot in the can and walk around---it made a loud noise and also made us taller

My friends and I often jump roped, but I was never around anyone who double dutched. It was one of my favorite past times as a kid.

I spent many happy hours skipping on the school quadrangle. Those were the days when kids had to use their imagination and amuse themselves. It didn't do us any harm either.
what didn't we play.!
