It is rumored that marijuana does something for the senior body that is beneficial has anyone heard that? I reside in a area that is still allowing the ghost of Carrie Nation to chase people and cause problems for alcohol consumption. Not drinking and driving just drinking any time any where is outrage in this area. Imagine marijuana indulgence in a place like this. "Whaaa?" Happy days!

There are a lot of benefits of medical marijuana/cannabis for seniors, and people of all ages. It has been used for many years and is effective in treating cancer, chronic pain, COPD, Fibromyalgia, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), ADD/ADHD etc. Here's just one article on how it's been used. http://earthweareone.com/5-diseases-proven-to-respond-better-to-cannabis-than-prescription-drugs/ . I agree, it's just common sense that those under the influence of pot are more likely to be careful and go slower than those who are intoxicated on alcohol...they tend to be more aggressive, go faster and be reckless drivers.

Times have sure changed haven't they? Let's see, it was only five years ago that Marc Emery was extradited from Canada and jailed in Seattle because he made the mistake of selling seeds to Americans. Yep times have changed.

Did any of you folks ever hear of Rick Simpson? He's a fella that lived in Nova Scotia until recently and he was using marijuana oil to cure people of cancer. Not a doctor himself, I think he had cancer and used the oil to heal himself and then it worked so well for him that he began helping friends and neighbours. He kept notes and took photos and ultimately presented all his information to the Canadian Cancer Society and they basically dismissed everything he'd noted. Weren't interested.
He also went direct to the RCMP at that time, told them what he was doing and they subsequently came in and ripped out all his plants and charged him with trafficking. But when he went to court, after reviewing the evidence the judge decided that he wasn't trafficking at all as he'd never taken a nickel for the help he'd given people. But because he had been growing the plants (quite a number I think), she had to do something. So she fined him about $2000 and sentenced him to two years probation. Well all his patients passed the hat and paid his fine and then when his probation was over he apparently left the country because he didn't want to live in a country that was so totally backward about helping people who were at risk of dying.
It's an amazing story and I wonder if Canada finally legalizes it (if the Liberals get in) if he'll return. He was a senior and probably has lots of family in this province so maybe.

Medical Marijuana, and Cannabis have shown themselves to be quite good in reducing chronic pain, etc. Some of the biggest objections to its use seem to come from the major drug companies, as they know that if Medical Marijuana were readily available, it would probably put a serious dent in their "ask your doctor" drug sales and profits.
However, the jury is still out on the Side Effects of Recreational Marijuana. I have lots of relatives in Colorado, and they are saying that the number of highway accidents and deaths have been increasing in the past couple of years. The Pot Heads used to enjoy their "high" at home, but now they are roaming all over the place. It's a bit early to tell if the statistics will bear this out, but the trend appears to be developing.

Something that needs to be considered with that alleged increase in accidents while high is that the common tests for marijuana will indicate usage for up to 30 days - so a person could have toked on April 20th (4/20 
), got in an accident on May 19th and still tested positive, without any aftereffects being present.
You also have the "pot tourists" to consider - I believe Colorado has experienced quite a large influx of people visiting the state only to partake of the bud, so naturally they will add to the rolls ...

I have a friend that uses medical marijuana for COPD. It has really helped her. Although she obtains it from a MD, it is still illegal and very expensive in Florida. Legalization here has been delayed due to decisions regarding who will be allowed to grow medical marajuana.
