Who was the first celebrity you met?

Wow meryl streep, is one brilliant actress…
Yes she is but she is not a friendly person. All the other actors and people on he set were very nice. She tended to just go back and forth to her trailer. The others, were out and about talking etc. They treated us as real people, Meryl not so much I must say.

Maybe it's just her method of acting to 'stay in character' for the duration of filming. That could be why she kept to herself.

Sheilds and Yarnell ...they were a mime duo from the 80's?
They came to our room and chatted w/my mother, sister and me.

Saw Red Skelton on the plane, as we were boarding on our way to Reno.
Made him laugh as I was telling my mother to 'hurry up lady'.......(you had to be there lol)

About 30 years ago, I was in line at a restaurant cashier & the guy in front of me looked sorta familiar, even from the back - the hair, the shape of his head. When he turned around & smiled at me, I couldn't help but burst out laughing - Al Lewis ("Grandpa" on The Munsters). Several other people started laughing when they recognized him. He seemed to expect it & enjoy it.

My first was Michael Landon, Little Joe on Bonanza. In Ft. Lauderdale when I was 11.

Then Debbie Reynolds. Her hubby, Harry Karl owned a shoe dept. in our village. She came to promote it.
After that, Gerry Cooney, professional boxer, challenged twice for world heavyweight titles in '82 and '87. I met him in '81 at Concorde Resort in Liberty, NY. Nice guy, too nice to fight.
Then....Hillary Clinton. And her bodyguards. They were so nice, and cute, too. They let me hang out with them for a half hour while Hillary gave a speech.
Now, mostly politicians in my state.....they are not celebrities.:)

I saw quite a few celebrities in my day, but only conversed briefly with James Doohan (Scotty of Star Trek fame).

The rest were coincidental encounters where I just happened to see them in my everyday travels.

While living for a few years in CT, my wife and I got to watch Robert DeNiro, for a week, film outdoor scenes for the movie, "Jacknife". The filming was around the block from the place we were renting. How convenient was that?

Oh, and we saw Jane Pauley (TV hostess) and Garry Trudeau (Doonesbury comic creator) in a pharmacy in CT. She dropped a stuffed animal and I picked it up for her without even realizing who she was. It was the pharmacist who said to us after they left,, "Do you know who that was?"
When we lived in CT, we once went on a cocktail party/boat tour of the Thimble Islands. It was pointed out that Jane Pauley and Gary Trudeau lived on one of them. It wasn't much bigger than the house but quite charming.

I took that Thimble Island Tour in 2018. I must've missed the part about JP & GT.
I wonder if they still live there?
