Hey, how's it going today for you? It's 2023. An alternate thread for different people.

Gosh had such a busy day but super productive.

Got woken up super early by Parcel Force delivery guy for daughter's Avon. Fell asleep again, thankfully. Went out shopping for emergency supplies. Found new closet cotton panels which were half price at local, to replace the shredded white net curtains by other cat before current kitten.

Upon returning home, the remainder of our order was delivered. Completely surprised by the lipsticks Sample set of 6 for 7.95 -- they're full size and lasts for longer than my usual brand, costly at 12.99 I'm so happy lol lol lol

Watched "You've Got Mail" always makes us cry. Now after dinner it's Lee Evans Comedy DVD.

Trying to find a good chat room but not wanting senior dating sites. I gave up looking for now. Later y'all kitten wants his treats and I'm getting patted in the arm with meows!
That is a good deal for those lipstick samples and especially when they are full size!

I did say I put the litter box up but looking back, I'm sure I did not lift that litter box at all. After a broken hip they don't want you to bend down that far much less lift any weight. I had to have asked one of the girls to set it up on the box, there was also a step stool placed close as a step up for the cats. For you this might be the in-home rehab person who could put together a make-shift solution for the cat. They would help get your house set up as well as continuing the exercises, etc.

I've thought if anything else like that happens I might call a pet sitter to visit the cats and take care of them. The girls did it without complaint but they live across town and I know it had to be a lot of trouble for them.
A pet sitter is a great idea @Myrtle ! I've been thinking of getting one too. There are times I may need one if I have to be hospitalized or if I become unable to walk well for some reason.

I slept very well last night for a change. I often wake up many times during the night but did not this time. I had taken something for sleep that I take once in awhile when I need sleep badly. Took me a few hours to wake up, though, I was groggy and wanted to go back to sleep but did not this time. I'm glad I stayed awake. Just having coffee and did some vacuuming already. There is plenty for me to do around here.

Yes, falls can be very hard on a body. It's best you stay off that roof. There are people who would come out and do that for you.
LOL, you are right. I am pretty sturdy for my age, but tempting fate is not too smart. I don't crawl under the house on my belly among the spiders and snakes doing repairs anymore. The idea of running into a rattler or copperhead when I am in a confined space is not very appealing.
I did put handrails on the front porch steps, but the thing that drove me was watching how nervous an older friend of mine was when he came to visit and climbed those steps with nothing to hang on to. Years later, and I find myself using them.
My lovely older half-sister slipped on ice when she was 83. She broke her pelvis and things went downhill rapidly after that.
Getting used to the idea that I am not invulnerable has not been easy for me at all since I was fairly robust for most of my life. Now I am 80, and LOL just a wee bit wiser.

I used to be robust too. I used to even move my refrigerator and clean back there. My back won't let me do that anymore. It is kind of hard realizing we can't do all we would want to do anymore. Still, there are still so many things left that we Can do, too. Sorry to hear about your half sister injuring herself so badly. When there is ice out there I try to be extra cautious. I've fallen on ice several times but so far never injured myself more than a sore behind. It is well worth it for all older folks to be more careful doing many things in order to keep on going alright.

I've accidentally met a pet sitter. She's a college student and she's been shoveling my sidewalk. She always tells me to pay her whatever I feel that it's worth whenever she shovels, so because she says that I always overpay her. 😂 I know that I don't know her well but if I need someone I will give her a try.

I too know someone who pet sits. It's always good to know someone who does that. That's wonderful she shovels snow, too! You sound like a generous person and I bet she appreciates that❤️🌹

And it would be helpful to locate and interview/screen and meet,
before they are actually needed. That would reduce stress, too, just knowing there was one who would possibly be available.

I hadn't read your other post yet, @Ruthanne
that you already know someone who might pet-sit.
I hadn't read @Myrtle 's follow-up post on it, either.;)
I guess that means, my post # 158 above, was solely for myself, then! :giggle: :geek::giggle::LOL:

No, not solely for yourself, Kaila. I really don’t know her just because she shovels for me. I looked and didn’t find her on Rover so I will do a little more investigating before deciding she’s the one. 😊

Thanks, @Myrtle
and I do agree, we would want to be more careful and more particular, about possible help with care of our loved ones, and inside our home, than we are for shoveling outdoors,;):geek::giggle::LOL:
even though she is nice and friendly.:D

I think I have figured out I need to make sure I take it right after a meal. I had dinner late yesterday. I took it after and did not have the dizziness and weakness as I did when I took it early in the day. I don't eat a lot for my first meal of the day. I will make sure I eat well before I take any today.

Various medication must be taken after a meal, usually to not irritate the stomach. One time my bil gave me some pain pills (I know, illegal/stupid) but forgot to tell me "Eat before taking" so my back felt great, my stomach let me know it wasn't happy.

I did some reading on it. Apparently it is absorbed by the body different ways depending on if you take it with out without food. Only thing I could figure is I had not really eaten so I got a big whan all at once. It is a new muscle relaxer for me. I also started taking metformin at the same time which has its own set of issues.

Just took a german chocolate cake out of the oven. Doing another cook up for the week or several days. Took some ham out of the freezer, making some homemade mac and cheese. Have not decided on anything else at this point. I just try to cook when I feel up to being in the kitchen.

We are expecting some freezing rain so I will not be going out for a few days. Still adapting to new meds, had a fall saturday face first in the hall on the wood floor. Just got dizzy, next thing I know my legs just gave out. I must looked like a circus clown, waving my arms, trying to get my balance. LOL
I was immediately covered in dogs licking my face, arms and feet. I guess it scared them when they heard the big wham. They were ever so gentle until I could roll over and crawl to the bathroom vanity to pull myself up.

Oh gosh, @Blessed
That's not good. Have you spoken to the doctor about these side effects?

Very sorry for those upsetting reports, @Ruthanne
Try to wait till you find out what the specialists suggest....and try to take it just one little step at a time....
Though both of those are probably not possible to do.
Yet, even if you do them a little, or at just some for moments, they might help, just a little bit.
Try to take care of your other needs, too.

Thank you for your wise words to me. They are just what the doctor ordered!👍😘

The cake sounds wonderful Blessed but the fall is very scary. I’m glad you were able to pull yourself up. I hope you don’t have any bruises or sore spots. It’s too bad we aren’t close enough to run over and help each other up when we hear a ‘big wham’. You take care. 🤗
