100 year old Japanese woman sets swimming record

awww that's a long time to complete less than a mile she must have been going verrrry slowly, but good for her, it's probably the swimming however slowly, that's keeping her alive.. :D

Love to know what she drinks or smokes...:D

Yes, it is quite slow, but for 100, I'd say that's good. My DH swims laps about 3 times a week.

Well I'll be happy if I can still swim at a 100 that's for sure.

I don't get the chance to go to the pool here very often, it's in the leisure centre and the adult only times are when I'm at work, but when I go to my Casa in Spain I swim laps every morning and evening in my own pool which is 15 metres , usually about 20 laps, but I have been known to do over 30...and I didn't learn to swim until I was 50.. :D

Well done on learning to swim at 50! I'm surprised at just how many people I run into that can't swim. Not even the dog paddle.

I'm not a great swimmer, but I can keep from drowning. Only have two strokes I can do properly and can't go under without holding my nose. But I'm great at floating. I could float for hours. I very rarely go in the pool at my gym even though my membership includes it. I did swim a lot in Thailand in both the pool and the sea.

Growing up on an island, could swim at three. Love water, allergic to chlorine, so can't access
public pools. Fortunately, have friends with salt water pool, they let me do laps whenever I wish. If I want fudge, must do laps! They also have a resistance pool--needed after too much indulgence, oh the things I do for food!

ndynt, really? That woman rocks, it is important for younger seniors to hear these stories and be inspired. I think there is a revolution taking place around what constitutes old age. Hope to be a positive participant.

Me too. I'm working on it.
