Rant Thread-Tell 'em off Thread

My daughter's pet leave is trying to convey messages through social media. Only being able to add emotion etc through little faces.
I agree with her. Even by phone you can judge a person's emotion .
My pet peeve is she will only acknowledge a text if it requires a specific answer. A yes, ok, thumbs up lets me know she got the message. If you call she rarely answers. I hate to cancel my own daughter but,................
Just kidding, would never do that.

When I have to wait too long for a response, I send my children this. I get an LOL and a very quick reply.

If I don't answer right away, I have a reason: I don't want to answer, I'm busy at the moment, I didn't receive the message ... some kind of reason. If you want to nudge me in the direction of answering, I'd prefer a more respectful method. Plain words might be best.

As @StarSong mentioned, it works in her family, and I'm glad. I know we're all different. I just don't relate to people that way, and others might not either.

Most of the markets in Vancouver, Canada require a deposit (from $0.25 to $1.00 for rental) Carts returned to the "cart corrale" properly, the deposit will be "released" automatically. There very few "homeless" carts here.

We have Aldis here. You deposit a quarter in a slot then get it back when you return the cart. Also, you use your own bags.
Much better system and I find myself going there more and more. In fact, I just went and the produce quality and price was better than our Air Force commissary. And, I got the most delicious Roasted Garlic Hummus.
Thanks BC I forgot about Aldis and their cart free parking lot!

I don't carry a coin around with me for trolleys ( carts).. I have one of these trolley coins...they're the exact same size as a pound coin, saves trying to remember to bring change ..

I just read this whole thread and I can't get over the boys on the bus beating up a nine year old girl and the school saying they are overwhelmed with violence.

I think the reason for this is that we've decided to have children without getting married first and these kids, boys in particular, grow up in fatherless homes. It's usually fathers who teach boys that "two against one' is wrong, that it's shameful for a boy to hit a girl and a hundred other things that boys will listen to from a father, but not so much from their mother.

I think this is at the root of many of our problems today, but no one will talk about it for fear of hurting someone's feelings. Two parents worked well for thousands of years until about forty years ago and now we're seeing the consequences of thinking we only need one.

The reporters themselves are only following orders. Maybe biased media should be banned: Politically-owned media outlets. Embedded journalism. Etc.
