The doctor earlier saw I was suffering from "Hammer toe" and said "Nothing can be done"

I went online, found a splint, solved my issue.
It is scandalous that we mere mortals must sometimes take care of business ourselves.
I'd go see the doctor for this. There may be some inverse issue causing your bladder to have pressure when laying down, instead of sitting.
I am overjoyed at having eliminated the problem by just sleeping on a chair so I haven't given any thought that it might be a negative thing - but you could be right.

Yes, there is a thin hose to the equipment and the part that puts the air directly under or in your nostrils. It can limit your movement if you are actively moving in the house. We had 20 and 30 foot hoses, my husband could pretty much move freely around the house. The portable had a short hose as that machine was in a little bag over his shoulder.
 
Check out sleeper recliners. That'll give you a choice of positions, including a lift out of the chair feature.

Bella, thank you for that link. I am going to have to buy a new recliner and I had never heard of sleeper recliners. I think that's something I might need. I once had to sleep in my current recliner for a couple of months after a knee injury. It was the only place I could get comfortable.

I have loved that chair but it's on it's last few weeks or months. Not long ago I tried to raise the foot rest and a spring broke and shot across the room. If the cat had been in the way it probably would have been goodbye kitty.

That doesn't look very scary at all. I don't even think my pnigophobia would object to me using one of those.

I'm so sorry. You are not the only one who sleeps in a recliner. Would a bed that raises be in your budget? Even a single, just for you. Sometimes couples sleep separately for many reasons. No shame in it.
 
I sleep easier in my recliner, my upper body elevated some, I rotate between bed and recliner...
sleeping for me is never really easy, some nights better than others, and some nights awful..

I feel for ya Verisure. I've been sleeping in my recliner for probably 7 - 8 years. I suffered with atrial fibrillation for decades. Finally, after all those years, I began to notice when I slept with my head elevated, I didn't have attacks or had less severe attacks at night. I probably discovered it after falling asleep while watching T.V. .Also, though our bed was quite comfortable, I started feeling achy and stiff on whichever side I slept on in the bed. The beds at our timeshare should be pretty comfortable, even though they are a bit firmer, but I can't sleep on them either. Here's my makeshift substitution for my recliner last time I stayed there.

@Sassycakes. Years ago my husband and I went shopping for a tempurpedic adjustable bed. I was disappointed with the choices and those things are very expensive. The not so firm mattress (what I'd require) wasn't comfortable at all. I can't imagine what the medium firm and firm must've felt like. Is your hubby sleeping better now?

It's amazing to suffer pain or discomfort - with no end in sight - and then suddenly by fluke circumstance find a remedy! It was the same for me, falling asleep in a chair while watching TV. I'm looking at the photo of your arrangement and I am curious about one thing. According to some people, it is recommended that the chair allows your feet to be placed on the floor. Neither a recliner nor your set-up allows that. Do you think it matters?
 
I recently purchased an adjustable bed. My Hubby was having difficulty sleeping so I purchased this one.They come in double beds and twin beds.

I have been looking at those. For the last 2 years I have been sleeping in my recliner and/or my chair (which has a high, straight back). I would go to bed, but after a couple of hours be back on one of the chairs. I would like to get the adjustable bed but not sure about spending the money and then not be able to sleep in it.

It's worth it because you can put it in the position where it feels the same as a recliner if you want. (y) It can go all the way up so you're sitting up straight or all the way down flat, and anywhere in between.
 
What I want to know is if any of you have had the same experience and can give me some tips or warnings or whatever ….. Meanwhile, I am looking for a decent recliner to purchase. All comments from you will be very welcomed! :unsure:
I've had the 'can only sleep sitting up' scene during a battle with shingles
Sleep only came when in my recliner cranked half way back
Other than that, the pillowtop bed is my sanctuary

Discovered it myself
Shingles was playing havoc with my bad ear
Lotsa weird drainage
Couldn't go horizontal
It wasn't a fun few weeks
CBD oil was a huge benefit

"Some people" just may be wrong Verisure. It depends on each individual's health and wellness needs. In my case, I have high blood pressure and since one of my cardiologists took me off of the water pill I was taking, sometimes my feet swell slightly if they are not elevated, which is most of the day. So it's beneficial for me to elevate my feet whenever I can, which winds up being when I take time to watch T.V. and when I'm sleeping.
 
You may want to look into a adjustable bed with a latex mattress. Raising the head up and the foot up on a medium latex mattress maybe just what you need. Do an internet search for the latex mattresses to see if there is a company near you where you can go and try them out. They are expensive but when it comes down to your health and we’ll being, there is no price that is to much.
 
Oh gosh! I’ve got sleep apnoea, back problems (so I’m on the sofa rather than my bed), a pacemaker, frequent need for a bedtime “pee”, pnigophobia (panic attacks for fear of suffocating or choking), heartburn, and gastric discomfort. Yes, all of that! What it means is that I can no longer lie down to enjoy 8 hours of uninterpreted sleep and this has been going on for the last few years, getting increasingly worse. I’ve come to the point of getting maybe only 3 hours of sleep a night.

Two weeks ago, just after midnight, I was so frustrated that I put my fist down hard on my computer keyboard and smashed it. My wife didn’t understand what I was going through and she freaked out. I am always so tired, so much so that I fall asleep watching TV, eating my meals, riding the city bus, and even while contributing to this forum but it’s only for 5 or 10 minutes at best. Shit, I say! Shit! I can’t take it anymore.

Well, sometime last week I was sitting on a high-backed chair and I fell asleep, no surprise, but I woke some hours later feeling refreshed! Can it be?! Yes, and I've been going “to bed” on that chair ever since. What I want to know is if any of you have had the same experience and can give me some tips or warnings or whatever ….. Meanwhile, I am looking for a decent recliner to purchase. All comments from you will be very welcomed! :unsure:
How awful for you, I am so sorry.

I find I cannot sleep for very long lying down. I have painful knees and hips. Often pain in my shins wakes me.

So I often wake in the early hours and sit up with two pillows to support my back and a cushion under my knees. Also I have a nice neck collar to keep my neck from lolling . This way I doze off and get some nice sleep.
