How to clean a ceiling fan light

Looking closer at your picture, it may not be a globe held on by 3 screws at the top. That may be a knurled nut at the bottom center of the shade. Unscrew the nut and the shade should drop down.

I was just going to suggest that! ;)

Or...Deb could spend a few bucks to hire someone to do the job.
I completely agree, get a handyman in to remove the globe and thoroughly clean the fan. When you live alone it's foolish to take chances on ladders or doing anything that may cause a fall and serious injury. At least, a second person should hold the ladder steady and be a helper.

My fan is directly over our king size bed. I put an old sheet on the bed, stand up on the bed, and remove the globe for cleaning. My husband is always there right on the bed while I do it, in case I lose my balance.

MY light is also above my bed... DO NOT STAND ON THE BED... I did that in 2020 and the bed sprung me into the air like Olga Korbut doing a swan dive.. and I landed on the floor with a cracked Shoulder blade.. still suffering with the pain of it now..

Oh my goodness, sorry to hear that. We have a Sleep Number bed that is hard as a rock, not springy at all, and my husband is always right there with me if anything weird happens.

Maybe use the ladder and the table. It’ll make you feel more stable and you’ll have a spot to set the globe down as you descend the ladder.
I don't think standing on a table would work for me. Nothing to hold onto while I'm using my hands. At least with a ladder, I can brace my legs against it.
