Interesting pic. Has me wondering how Deb got up there to take it.I guess that are attracted to the light and when they die, they just drop into the light cover - it's bowl-like and open at the top.

I completely agree, get a handyman in to remove the globe and thoroughly clean the fan. When you live alone it's foolish to take chances on ladders or doing anything that may cause a fall and serious injury. At least, a second person should hold the ladder steady and be a helper.I was just going to suggest that!
Or...Deb could spend a few bucks to hire someone to do the job.
MY light is also above my bed... DO NOT STAND ON THE BED... I did that in 2020 and the bed sprung me into the air like Olga Korbut doing a swan dive.. and I landed on the floor with a cracked Shoulder blade.. still suffering with the pain of it now..I completely agree, get a handyman in to remove the globe and thoroughly clean the fan. My fan is directly over our king size bed. I put an old sheet on the bed, stand up on the bed, and remove the globe for cleaning. My husband is always there right on the bed while I do it, in case I lose my balance.
And Gary’s to stand on a very solid table.Yup, follow Nathan's instructions.
Oh my goodness, sorry to hear that. We have a Sleep Number bed that is hard as a rock, not springy at all, and my husband is always right there with me if anything weird happens.MY light is also above my bed... I don't think standing on a table would work for me. Nothing to hold onto while I'm using my hands. At least with a ladder, I can brace my legs against it.
Getting off topic, but those bulbs look like a real "hydro guzzler", if you know what i mean. I could be wrong!I guess that are attracted to the light and when they die, they just drop into the light cover - it's bowl-like and open at the top.

They've arrived from the US and also south-east Asia.OMG.. so they've arrived from the USA in the fruit?.. wow!... still not in my area.. never ever seen one.. and hopefully they won't get here in the significant numbers they are in the US
We had some (among many bugs/spiders, creepy crawlies)They won't stink unless you bother them. Best left alone to go about their buggy business.
If I was your neighbor, I would take care of that for you. Cuz that's the way I was brought up.I took a photo of it last night with the light on. Looks like there's one out.
