Steam train at Aviemore, Scottish highlands

I might just do that when I get the chance ...lol
No doubt Holly has been rather busy and the chance of dressing up to ride on the steam heritage train has yet to materialise.
So, step back a good few years to our Ruby wedding anniversary and we got all dressed up to ride on the famous Orient Express.
It was only a day tour, nonetheless the organisers pulled the stops out.

Champagne in the first photo, (in paper cups, ugh!) A Jazz Band greets us in the second photo. The third picture
features our engine for the day and the last two pics are what we wore.

I remember sitting on our porch swing and hearing the steam engines slipping their wheels in the switch yard a mile from our house. It was a very distinct sound, a rapid chugging that starts abruptly and then quickly slows down as the wheels gain traction. It's probably just nostalgia, but that era has a magical quality about it for me. Apparently for others too.

A steam train is a unique thing to experience. The choo-choo sound is awesome.
What I didn't expect was the debris it delivers onto your lap if you're in the first car with the windows open in the summertime.

I have a life long passion for trains.. especially steam trains...

I love to travel on long distance trains in particular

I travel on the train often.. but they are commuter trains.. and if train fares weren't so expensive here I would travel much more on long distance trains
