What are you doing today 2023

Husband is willing to leave the house today, yay! I encouraged him to go get a much-needed haircut and I told him I'd take him to the Chinese restaurant he forgot he liked.
He has been down of late with his medical issue so it has been hard to get him to do anything. He is a homebody anyway so this is exciting. It also helps that small things and small trips out of the house make me happy. 😊

I'm home. Instead of doing 8 hrs of work in 6 hrs today, I did 8 hrs of work in 5 hrs. The first hour I was there I spent doing video training. Ugh. Every year they erase all the videos we completed (watch, then take a test), and we have to take them all again. To finish all of them takes four hours. A giant time suck.

Just in case I get lucky tomorrow and it's sort of slow, I set up everything for tomorrow morning, all the yeast breads and all the croissants laid out on their trays, set up on their racks and in the cooler, ready to be rolled into the proofer. If it's slow and I can get a computer (there are only six for about 100 people!), I can knock out another hour of the videos while stuff is proofing.

Lemme 'splain..."production" departments like the bakery where we actually make things? We have to do the video training as we have time. Other departments like where shelves are being stocked? They can just take the time from stocking shelves or whatever else they do and use a computer start to finish...meaning four hours all at once. That's why I have to scramble at 6am to get to a computer to squeeze in an hour or so and am still expected to make/bake whatever is needed on any given day.

Everybody wants a piece of me!

The rain has stopped. The sun is trying to come out. And...it's colder than a banker's heart out there! We're still supposed to have frost Monday and Tuesday mornings.

You really work hard; they'd be lost without you.

I wish you knew how much people love croissants. Every time you mention them I wish I had one.

Ridiculous!!

Had to go out to pick up a prescription. Yesterday's belated Dr. visit gave me an A1C of 9.3!!!! It should be around 5.

I'd talked myself into believing my Type2 diabetes had magically disappeared for quite some time and had not taken medication, ate all the carby stuff and just blew it off.

I feel fine, but my Dr. was aggravated. Soooo, the drugstore had to order my Rx and today I picked it up.

I already did something. Made enough egg salad for several days. My second-hand stand mixer became a giant paperweight last week, so I had to mash the egg salad by hand. Not a problem, turned out fine.

So now it's 1:30 pm. I guess I can do my hour of exercise over the next few hours. Then talk to my language partner, and go to bed.

I really need to clean my bedroom and change the sheets. Maybe today will be the day.

I had thought that my winter blahs would start to lift after February, but I realize that was wishful thinking. So I'll try to lower my expectations until -- probably the end of April. (Judging by how I felt last year.) I live much farther north now than I ever did before, and I'm still figuring things out.

@hollydolly Pretend you're Annie and start singing!

The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow
Bet Your Bottom Dollar That Tomorrow There'll Be Sun
Just Thinking About Tomorrow
Clears Away The Cobwebs And The Sorrow 'Til There's None
When I'm Stuck With A Day That's Gray And Lonely
I Stick Out My Chin And Grin And Say
The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow
So You Gotta Hang On 'Til Tomorrow, Come What May
Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I Love You, Tomorrow
You're Always A Day Away

I do know how much they like them! Sometimes when there aren't any out yet, they'll see a whole rack of them cooling and insist on knowing how soon they'll be packaged. I've even had customers insist that I go ahead and package them before they cool so I have to warn them that doing so will create condensation and make them soggy. They don't care. They want what they want, and they want it now:)

I went out for groceries yesterday. Two places, Aldi and Stop & Shop. I scored eggs at Aldi for 2.75 a dozen! Picked up some chocolate too.

OMG the wind was intense yesterday. It felt like zero degrees in the wind. I hate that. The darned wind pushed me along the sidewalk...thank goodness it was at my back.

I picked up some fancy, soft beef jerky for Doggie. The package stated "human grade". I smelled it and it smelled delicious. So, I gave her one right away and she trotted off to her rug to enjoy it.

I was still standing at the same counter putting stuff away when she came back and actually let out two little cries! She never cries for food and rarely for anything else. She loved that snack, so I gave her another and she was happy.

Iceberg lettuce is back down from $5.00 a head (!) to 1.25, but cookies are ridiculously high. I didn't buy either.
Iceberg $5.00 a head????? Rabbit's organic spring mix is less than that.

well you can't kid us.. you Trila... we know from this old song about you folks there in Arkansas.. and that $133.00 is only for them thar rich folks.. and you just mighta saved that economy after all...

Though the brambles took the cabin I was born in
And the briers reclaim the fields I used to plow
There's a yearning in my heart to be going To that forty acre patch God sow in sprouts.

Arkansas are your rivers still flowing Is your cotton growing white as snow
Are the squirrels a barking upon old Crowley's ridge
Has the girl I was sparking on gone and burned another bridge.
Arkansas, Arkansas.

I have known the troubles I was born to know I have wanted things a poor man's born to want
And in all my dreams and memories I go running
Through the fields of Arkansas from which I stroll.

Arkansas are your rivers still flowing Is your cotton growing white as snow
Do the young men still piddle with the thought of growing rich And slowly turn the old folks sittin' whittling on a stick.

Arkansas, Arkansas...

Going to check the forum out tomorrow, exhausted from today...I am dozing as I sit here...
Not perfect, what is? I bogged myself down with an internet order & missed the first 15 minutes of my show "Young & Restless!" I made myself nervous for awhile, but I settled back down. Thanks for asking!
@Pepper You need to start streaming the Young and Restless as we do, that way, YOU can watch your shows, when YOU want to when YOU have the time...Lorie loves that idea about streaming...

@RadishRose Talk to your doctor about Ozempic... Once a week, poke in the tummy, no pain... and it controls the diabetes very well...
Yep, that was a few weeks ago.
@RadishRose We have family in Florida for the month of March, where Lorie is joining them for the last 10 days...Anyhow, they went to a grocery store the other day, dozen of eggs, $14 and a pound of bacon #13... Yjey almost fainted... Eggs here are between $150 - $4.00 and a pnd of bacon here, which is not a real pound anymore, but it's going between $4 - $7
But as they keep saying they are NOT gouging us...:sneaky:;)(n)

Good night All, See you tomorrow either before or after the Gym...

I’m from Arkansas but have never heard that song. Thanks, I enjoyed listening to it.

Spent a busy day with my DD. The other one and DGD left to visit a friend for the day. We were out and about much of the day. I told her I’d give her my red glassware that I’ve had since she was a kid. She‘s busy figuring out a way to send it back to her home 4 provinces away. She denies that she had turned me down when I offered them before. Then as she’s wandering around the house she starts liking this and that. She’s welcome to it. I want things to go now.

I spent a lot of today stressing about how to figure out estimated tax payments. I read so many tax instruction documents and finally realized the mistakes I was making estimating my state taxes, and then after all that, I found that even though I only lived in Maryland three weeks at the end of last year and hadn't owed any state tax (tho a tiny bit of local tax), the online software I'd used had filled out all the state worksheets and forms, so I could have just looked at them! They even found a tax credit I didn't know about for Maryland.

I hope all the wasted time at least had the benefit of brain exercise/staving off dementia etc.

Good Morning Folks...
Yup, got a good night's sleep last night, and feel much better... At least I am not dozing at the computer as I was last night. Pretty sure I was gone as soon as my head hit the pillow last night...

Anyhow, this morning, Going to the gym at about 7:30 this morning, and Pick up a few groceries. Going to try the income tax one more time and see if it goes any better than it did this past week, and the Senators play another late game tonight and tomorrow night...

And that's about all for today... Have a good one Kids...;)
