Aww, I'm sure your grandkids see you as more than just a gift-giver, but it is totally normal they do see grandparents as gift-givers.
I don't understand the expectation of help with shoveling, if your daughter is busy with children she is probably wishing someone would offer to come help her. Even when my daughter was most sensitive to my need for snow shoveling help, she didn't try to come herself, instead she hired from the guys she knew, a young man whose pickup had a snow plow attachment, and he'd come and take a quick pass up and down the driveway.
Do you have a snowblower? Or a neighbor you could hire? Shoveling is awful hard work at our age.
Thanks for the input, HoneyNut.
I don’t expect you to back track posts to get more info on this.
Almost 6 years ago, her and her partner moved here from a town 20 minutes from here.
At that time she labeled us as mother / daughter……of course my heart melted.
That’s when her their needs started……I would hear from them a lot…..always short of money, groceries, gas etc.
I helped them…..neither one was working.
That’s the kind of relationship it was, and continued.
Since I started downsizing last spring…..she started following my listings on Facebook…..heard from her a lot….she says…..if you can’t sell it, she’ll take it.
I have given them so much stuff….not junk….good stuff.
She’s always good at offering help…..but is a no show.
Why the expectation on my part for help with the snow….maybe because felt for them to help them out…..maybe I would like a little help.
Last spring I cut them off on the money hand outs…..she’s 30, he’s 38……time for them to be adults…..seems like she stopped communication to very little since then.

.
Neighbours here don’t do for each other…..the kind of town it is.
Do I have a snow blower……I did sort of…..I requested the walking snowblower…..my X has a really small tractor with cab, bucket, and snowblower, so he didn’t need the walking one.
The first winter it was here…..didn’t have my shed yet to store it…..he stored it at his place….got my shed…..but he would not bring the blower back.
So that’s the story.
